I've been reading through the Psalms today, and I've been pondering on some of the comments regarding the validity of imprecatory prayers. I have an honest question for those who dismiss these prayers. "If imprecatory Psalms were for another "dispensation" or specifically for David, or all those O.T guys, wouldn't the comforting Psalms such as Psalm 23 also be null and void?"

I would like to make a point regarding George Tiller. For over 30 years, there have been people interceding for his salvation. They have also prayed that God would remove him from the shedding of innocent blood. He has now been removed, and a Sovereign God allowed it. (Whether the killer is right with Him or not). So a prayer has been answered, although most Christians don't like the answer. I have to ask myself, when the Egyptians, in hot pursuit of the Hebrews were drowned, did they look behind and wail and mourn over their deaths? Quite the contrary, they sang praises unto the Lord " I will sing unto the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously, the horse and the rider thrown into the sea... There are many instances in Scripture of God's people rejoicing in the death of the wicked ( see Psalms 58). Christians who believe in both Old and New Testament promises should rejoice in God's handiwork. He does whatsoever He pleases. Those who find the God of the "Old" Testament angry and mean, and somehow changed in the "New" Testament, will find imprecatory prayers as vengefull and mean. But He states that He changest not, and that ALL scripture is given for reproof, and instruction in righteousness. While some parts of God's Word may make us squirm a bit; it's still His.

Drake is totally and without a doubt insane and psychotic. Jesus Himself stated to pray in love for ones enemies. Jesus did not state to pray for the death of ones enemies.
To the natural mind, an imprecatory prayer does sound insane. A dispensationalist would surely say it's psychotic. But in times past, imprecatory prayers were in the Christian's arsenal of spiritual weapons. Calvin and the Puritan's prayed them during times of crisis and persecution. The one essential element to praying such prayers is to make sure your own spiritual house is in order. Yes, our prayer should be first that the wicked would first repent. But if they don't, and continue to wreak havoc on God's people,( and the unborn) it's perfectly acceptable to pray psalms of imprecation. The same God of David who answered his prayers, will most certainly hear ours. But our hearts must first be right. I would urge every person doubting these things to sit down and read through the Psalms. Write down every imprecatory Psalm you read. I suspect as persecution intensifies here in the US, and Christian's must cry continually to the God of heaven for protection, the imprecatory prayer will not seem to foreignanymore.

Violence tends to beget violence, and Tiller metted out plenty on late-term unborns until he finally got his. Now he's a martyr, for all the wrong causes.
At least Norma McCorvey seems to have come around (been brought around?).
Norma McCorvey supposedly was "born again" and baptized. Sadly though, she has since converted to Catholicism to her own detriment.

My "frustration" lies with the pastors of this nation who will not preach against sin. Bad theology, produces bad results.

It's wheat and chaff time! And I'm not talking about a "rapture"

What I find repugnant, are the religious leaders who never lifted a finger for the unborn, nor led their congregations to peacefully protest, and attempt to save the lives of the innocent, become public spokemen (women) for the pro-life community. What height of hyprocrisy. What if thousands of Christians had peacefully surrounded these clinics on a day to day basis? What a great place to preach the gospel, and to love their neighbor ( the unborn) as themselves. But no! Church people have been too busy playing and feeding their flesh. Harsh? Yes! We are losing the battle because the church has failed to be the salt and light that Christ has called us to be.

Psalm 58 is a great Psalm to remember in light of Tiller's death.

Evangelism is great, but mass repentance within the SBC is what is really needed. You've got to walk it, before you can talk it.

Most pastors don't do any public witnessing, because they simply don't have a passion for the lost,or that's not their "ministry". Jesus is a private matter, to only be uttered within the four walls of their 501(c)3 churches. Then there is the whole ridicule and rejection issue, that plays into open air preaching. The flesh craves positive attention, and hates rejection. Oh! if only more men of God would count the cost and with great joy proclaim Christ to a lost and dying world!

I once held to the unbiblical teaching of a pre-trib rapture. But a tree is known by it's fruit. I would encourage anyone holding to this doctrine to search out the Scriptures.

Historical Chrisitianity did not hold this doctrine for the first 1800 years. Google: Margaret McDonald, Darby, Scoffield. It doesn't take long to uncover the true roots of the pre-tribulation theory.

We are promised tribulation throughout Scripture. Hebrews 11 is an example of our forefathers. We should all be preparing spritually, to undergo persecution, and even death, if Christ calls us to such a high honor. "Be thou faithful unto death and I ( Jesus)will give thee a crown of life"!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Paul's sobering message should be heeded by every man and woman who names the name of Christ. Right before our very eyes, our own government, is demonizing those who love this nation as terrorists and extremists. The net is fastly approaching. Are we prepared to face persecution? May all those who love the Lord, keep His command, to persevere to end.

Here is further confirmation, of the coming judgment and persecution upon our nation. Go to this site and do a search under persecution ( sermons) and watch Paul Washer's short video clip.

When I was awakened from dead religiousity, it was Pastor Wilkerson, through his monthly newsletters, and "Set the Trumpet to thy mouth" that help instill the fear of the Lord in me. I wasn't a pentacostal then, and I am more in the reformed camp now. But one thing is certain, David Wilkerson has walked faithfully with the Lord over these many years. He has been outspoken, calling God's people to return and repent. Another thing for those who are soley Sola Scriptura, does not the scripture state in Amos, " The Lord God does nothing unless He first reveals it to His servants the prophets" ? Biblical history is replete, and unchanging.....God will not send judgment unless He first gives warning. To those who would mock at such warnings, you are treading on some dangerous ground. The Holy Spirit will also confirm these warnings.The real lesson is that history is cyclical. We are now on the downside; judgment is inevitable. A nation cannot murder fifty million children, and have thousands of sodomites march our streets, without receiving chastisment. God is very predictiable regarding these matters. It's not a matter of "If" but "When".

Thousands of calls were made to the Holiday Inn of Worthington. Three, yes three, Christians bothered to protest this perversion fest. There is another wicked event planned at the same hotel in May called Morphicon. Only this time, people will dress in animal costumes, and do perverse things in the conference rooms. IMHO, There should be a nationwide boycott of all Holiday Inns. Seriously, would you or your family want to spend the night in a place where unmentionalbe ungodliness was happening?

This is old news. The media is so full of hypocrisy. When will they begin to do "investigative journalism" and go into these death camps and expose the horrors that go on, day in, and day out? When will the black folks wake up and realize that they are being targeted for extermination? When will the pastors rise up and say enough is enough? The reason the holocaust continues is because of the deafening silence of the "church" AND it's members. Awake you sleepers, arise, and be a light to a sin sick world. Be a witness for the Lord at your local abortion clinic.

With all communist nations, the state becomes the nanny. Obama is more than willing to help alleviate the daycare dilemna.Christians would be wise to pay close attention, and get hold of the reins of their families. If you won't do the job of parenting your children, Obama would be happy to do it for you.

I hear a lot of "lets put Christ back into Christmas", but the simple fact is that He was never in Christ's mass. The origin of Christmas is a pagan holiday christianized by the Roman Catholic church. We were never told to celebrate our Lord's birthday, but we are instructed to celebrate His death and resurrection via the Lord's table, and our coming together on the Lord's day. I do not observe Christmas at all for the following reasons: #1 it is pagan, #2 it is a Roman Catholic holiday, #3 there is no truth to the whole observance (Remember John 4:23-24). I believe in the virgin birth, and the incarnation of Christ,in His full humanity and deity, but He was not born on Dec. 25. Why go on propagating this Roman Catholic lie? Many run to their Christian liberty, and I am all for true liberty in Christ, but lets stop compromising with the world, and supporting the Roman Catholic church. We are commanded to "come out" (2Cor.6:17; Rev.18:4),not to partake of such idolatry. May the Lord give us insight and grace to obey Him in all things, and that for His glory. In Christian love.
Thank you for getting to the precise point, why Christians should not engage in this idolatrous "holy day". Traditions of men are hard to break!

Hey!
Why don't you be a REAL overcomer, *Overcomer,* and stop dwelling upon things you have absolutely no control over -- like the RC Mass.
Here ... sing along with us:
O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold HIM,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
CHRIST THE LORD.
O Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing all that hear in heaven GOD'S HOLY WORD.
Give to our Father glory in the Highest;
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
CHRIST THE LORD.
All Hail! LORD, we greet THEE,
Born this happy morning,
O JESUS! for evermore be THY NAME adored.
WORD of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
O come, let us adore HIM,
CHRIST THE LORD!

It's about the INCARNATION, Overcomer -- a fundamental, ESSENTIAL doctrine of the faith. Rejoice, marvel, and be glad in it!
Essential Doctrine????

Please show me from the Word of God where we are commanded to "remember His birth?" And especially on a Babylonian/Roman Holy Day?

I do rejoice in Christ my King 365 days a year, minus the mass.

My prayer is that more Believers in Jesus Christ would flee this idolatrous Catholic Holy Day, and see it for what it is. For those who would like to know more regarding this Roman Holy Day, do your own research. Just GOOGLE " Origins of Christmas" There is abundant information available, for those who want and love the truth.
