These protestors are protecting more than themselves, but even the stranger. It’s wholly appropriate. Those who don’t take the mark, are they not themselves disobeying? Those who don’t give a pinch of incense to Ceasar, are they not disobeying? Didn’t John and Peter disobey? Didn’t the midwives disobey? Shouldn’t of some Nazi concentration camp workers disobeyed? Even the civil magistrate must be obeyed, in the Lord.
Should a wife obey a husband who tells her to worship a false god? Should you obey a church elder who tells you to steal? The Chinese state has one duty, bend the knee and profess. Remember the civil minister is a terror to evildoers and rewarded of good works, that’s the job description.

It’s lazy to accuse the Bible of contradictions since literally every since alleged contradiction has ample explanations all over the internet by well-schooled apologists. It’s as though this character made 0 effort to retain any semblance of a belief in the Scriptures.
