Ah, 1620. The not-so-good old days. These non-conformists had escaped the iron fist of James VI/I and the lure of decadent living in Holland, only to fall into a desperate struggle for survival. They trusted the Lord in life and death. That trust is what we celebrate in remembrance today. Their drive for freedom to worship the Lord as they saw was right remains a key piece of American political liberty.

Now relegated to be nothing more than some sort of inciduous colonial masters by some, they are today of lesser importance, thanks to the history re-writers with which a certain poster soon will respond. But they are wrong. Read the words of those non-conformists, and one quickly finds a group in a difficult situation between the American enivornment in which they landed and a bickering group of investors back in England.

But when you read their words, note the strong Biblical ethic and the God to whom they worshipped. Follow them as they follow Christ.

May the Lord preserve His people and their witness in China. May the Lord uphold them as they enter this most desperate time as the Cultural Revolution 2.0 intensifies. And may the CCP be frustrated in their vanity.

But there are many who can help reinterpret the Scriptures in a Socialist context.

Delusional individuals are upheld in their delusions rather than provided help to overcome them, but that is not politically correct or some sort of social injustice. And then everyone is forced to uphold the delusion. It is sad. About as sad as Jim L forwarding a pundit who agreed with the decision as if it was a good thing.

"Pfizer and Moderna explored a new technology that did not require cells for design or production. Their vaccines use messenger RNA that carries the genetic code for the coronavirus’s protein to the cells. The code prompts the body to make the coronavirus proteins, and the body responds with antibodies that protect the person against actual exposure to the virus. Moderna and Pfizer did use the HEK293 cell line during lab tests."

From https://world.wng.org/content/what_pro_lifers_should_know_about_covid_19_vaccines

Leaves lots of questions simply from the anti-abortion front. Then there is the long term safety. I'm old yet young enough to remember the last experimental vaccine that was rolled out -- anthrax for Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. A quick internet search shows the controversy still continues.

Grace. It's a very radical concept.

Actually, this woman is correct. Conversion from past lives to lives lived for the Lord in growing adherance to Nis word is part and parcel of the authentic Christian experience. That may mean rediscovering that the Lord made no mistake in a person's creation. That may mean all kimds of sins get left behind,

These people want to toss out Biblical Christianity for that? At some point they too will have to give an account for the riot in which they have run - 1 Peter 4.

The problem is that fathers and fatherhood are very politically incorrect. The effort to throw off the vestages of the so-called patricarchial system includes the welfare system. Note the specific effort by Black Lives Matter against fatherhood. Yet engaged fathers are key and nuclear families crucial to proper childhood development according to even the secular researchers. From the Biblical standpoimt, notice that fathers are the ones commanded to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, not mothers (see Ephesians 6).

On this topic, I came across this article some time ago and thought it a powerful argument -- https://world.wng.org/2020/10/the_fatherhood_factor

Excellent points, Brothers. Language and particularly the definition of words is critical. When "pro-choice" or "love is love" get tossed around, it is important to define the words being used and even establish the authority of those establishing a definition.

Sex isn't something "assigned at birth" but determined at conception as a key piece of DNA. As each person is a unique creation by the Lord, our physical attributes, even if non-typical, are part of His design. We are not our own creators or the masters of our own destinies. All that was created by the Lord. We don't get to define "love" (e.g. eros) or "life" because we didn't create either.

This is a battle at the level of the underlying assumptions. And those have to be uncovered and gently challenged.

Critical Theory is being taught by a variety of voices today to our children. Beware. This is poison akin to Isaiah 59.

YIA! How are you, Brother? Your fiance?

It has been stated publically that Africa is the current geographic center of "Christianity" right now, just based on population. You have expressed notable concern over doctrine and theology taught there. But couldn't agree more. The answer is missions.

While I agree with the general principle to marry only within the faith in the Lord, there is more to 1 Corinthians 7 than that verse:

And unto the married I command, not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband. But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled unto her husband, and let not the husband put away his wife. But to the remnant I speak, and not the Lord, If any brother have a wife that believeth not, if she be content to dwell with him, let him not forsake her. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, if he be content to dwell with her, let her not forsake him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified to the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified to the husband, else were your children unclean: but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart: a brother or a sister is not in subjection in such things: but God hath called us in peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thine husband? Or what knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? - 1 Corinthians 7:10-16

I didn't read the article, but I do like the snippet posted. I've made the same argument regarding a modern day Towel of Babel. Society as a whole wants to shake its collective fist at the Lord and declare that they made themselves for themselves by themselves. What is remarkably funny is that their glory is a figment of their own vain imaginations.

There is a psychological concept that denying who we *think* we are is an act of murder that leads to increased rates of suicide, depression, and all sorts of other mental health issues.

Instead, perhaps the older concept of delusionary symptoms should be treated as a symptom of psychological illness?

SA has shown Jim L and many of us an incredible amount of grace. We live in a "cancel culture" in which we can no longer tolerate opposing views in the public or private fora (forums?). While I vehemently disapprove of Jim's politics and his god, "thank you" to SA for not just jettisoning posters like happens on Facebook, Twitter, and many other places. Great example!

Instead, they have shown Jim grace, that same grace the Lord has shown us thru the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Brother Tim, we seem to be drifting toward Maoism, not Soviet-style communism. Chicoms and the Soviets were adversaries. The Russians will remain on the outs.

What I've seen is that the pandemic has changed directions for at least some preaching, but any Advent pieces are overshadowed by the larger response. For instance, we know a Church that has focused intently on the Lord's attributes...lifting the gaze of the attendees and viewers from horizontal to vertical in order to fight back wide spread improper fear.

It seems to be the trend to ask about mental health as society attempts to remove the stigma of mental illness. And it seems to be trendy to be bi-polar or something else.

The problem is that real mental health issues impact behavior and decision-making. The "I feel down" or "blue" is a difficult thing to nail down. And then there are not really a whole lot of effective treatments available. Psychology, having distanced itself early from any sort of Biblical worldview, offers little help or hope.

Excellent points, Brothers. I was not thinking of the stars in the Lord Jesus' right hand in Revelation 1 but really of later chapters in which Angels carry out various tasks related to the various plagues, woes, etc. However, the best parallel is the Lord Himself leading His people thru the wilderness to the land He had promised their fathers as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Clearly NOT a natural phenomenon. But also, after the Golden Calf incident, the Lord threatened to have an angel lead the prosession. Instead, He answered Moses' cry for mercy.

Like I said earlier, it's hard to say. I believe the Magi felt they were following a star, but one that leads to a particular house then stops? Maybe it seemed like a star to them, but that's not how stars typically operate. Either the Holy Spirit was active in their interpretation of the star's behavior or the star was a lot lower to the ground...or both? I'm speculating and on shaky ground here.

Thank you, Brother Carl, for that reminder of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize.

Yes, these folks are seen as savior of the Progressive ideal. And the MSM is going to continue to tout them until the American public finds a way to pull the plug on their voices.
