You are so absolutely right that we need to repent and believe God. But if the Great Physician, the God that heals, is not exalted in the hearts of his people then there is reason to fear assembling. We're afraid of dying and attempt to preserve our lives for this world.

This was an absolutely perfect message. Not just for Easter but for each time we gather. We have been resurrected with the Lord and our lives should reflect it. This is why I listen to you. You are doctrine is sound. And the spirit of the Word is in all of your sermons; converting the soul. May God raises up more like you Pastor Barrett. And may God bless you as much as he has blessed me. However I’ve been to many churches that have the wrong concept of Easter. Again thank you for your response.

Why do Christians set aside this period to acknowledge Easter as if it's a day designated holy by our Lord? This is not a criticism, but a concern as regarding apostasy & the Whore as mentioned in the Revelation. Here is what Vine says:Easter: mistranslated "Easter" in Act 12:4, AV, denotes the Passover (RV). The phrase "after the Passover" signifies after the whole festival was at an end. The term "Easter" is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast, but was not instituted by Christ, nor was it connected with Lent. From this Pasch the pagan festival of "Easter" was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt pagan festivals to Christianity. We are to live as resurrected pilgrims in this life. To me celebrating this as an annual day of holiness is much like celebrating Christmas. It is tine we preach on living the practical resurrected life. We need to be able to answer questions others have about our holy days. God bless you.

The historical content is valuable as an example of what this life, in this fallen world, has and will ever be until our Lord returns. Too bad there is no PDF. This sermon needs to be memorized and understood in its implications from resulting prayer. Prayer that comes from knowing a God who is worthy of the praise of his glory and of his grace that rescued us. May God raise up more with passion for his glory in justice. This pastor gave us the quote from Calvin worth considering. "God does not need our defense. But we would be less than dogs if we did not bark when our master was under attack." God's honor, expressed in Christ, is under attack. God magnify the glory in your justice.

Should there even be a title 'Southern' Baptist since it was formed following a rift with their northern counterparts over slavery? Admittedly, racism exists in church in the North as well. But the damage being caused even in the body of Christ is sinful, diabolical, evil in pure form and should be denounced at all costs. Also, titles such as Ukranian, Korean, Chinese, African Methodist, etc. are racially earmarked and should be abolished. Titles used to locate body of believers is most appropriate and unifies states, cities, boroughs, townships, streets, etc. Most people would be reluctant to walk into any church below the Mason Dixie Line without diligent research, if there were of color. Southern in a title immediately draws a line in the mind. No wonder people don't want the opinions of Christians in the North or South anymore. There is too much division over racial lines.

To not know you are sitting in a dead congregation before a manufactured jesus, a jesus of one's own making, a god that cannot communicate, cannot demand anything of you, will not commend you, and cannot change anything is a warning to those who get tired of the manna from heaven. Its a warning to those who seek approval of man and acceptance by man. May God raise up others like yourself who know the true and living God and also Jesus knows them. Thank you again brother Holloway. Knowing that our God and Saviour knows us is truly humbling. If he had no mercy toward us we would, I would, perish for sure. Being in his presence is so humbling that it takes his strength, and his alone, to make us stand. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Nothing in my hands I bring. May God continue to bless the hearer. May he doubly bless you for drawing our focus upon the one lifted up at Calvary.
