That's an interesting definition Jim. In fact, I think someone who supports a presidential candidate who promotes abortion would fit into your definition of a practical atheist.
Mr. Lincoln, I'm not sure what your agenda is, so I won't pretend to know. But your method is dead wrong. Time and time again, when a pastor takes a stand for following scripture and for constitutional rights, you accuse him of being motivated by money. Do you even know the man personally? Even if you do, do you know his heart as well as God does? Stop pretending like you do.
Jim Lincoln wrote: Alll babies get to heaven, but certainly not all adults.
Mr. Lincoln, weather or not someone is going to heaven when they die does not mean it is any less evil to murder that person. Please be clear and answer this one question: Is abortion okay, or is it murder?
Well said John. Your balanced perspective is refreshing. As for some of the other posts on this thread... Gentleman, contending for the faith is essential. But some of the bickering that has gone back and forth, it has not been "speaking the truth in love." It's been immature and unchristian!
Jim Lincoln from Nebraska writes: No, some church pastors are not confused but greedy.
Correction Mr. Lincoln, I believe Scripture calls such men hirelings, not pastors. Those are the type who are to cowardly to obey and honor the Lord when they face human opposition. Their hearts are like the stony ground in Christ's parable. They wither when persecution comes.
Remember pastors, are rich contributors swaying you judgement?❗👎
Mr. Lincoln, if you truly think the purpose of a church gathering is to raise money (which is what you are implying by that statement), you are very confused!
Mr. Lincoln, stop making light of Scripture! That's a dangerous thing to do. Psalm 138:2 says," I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." Don't disrespect God's word!
John UK writes: Wouldn't it be nice if all of us Christians were to consider the lives of all others as “having unconditional, intrinsic worth.”? Yes John, that is the way it should be. Then that would drive believers to share the gospel with the lost.
Thanks for the Scripture quotes, Adriel. To answer the question of "Which of these two lives "matter"???" Of course we know that Biblically speaking, they all do to God, because Christ died for all; and God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Sadly, those who have not received Him yet, are condemned already.
$14 Trillion in reparations for slavery!?! What an insult to the hundreds of thousands of men who laid down their lives to end slavery! Was their sacrifice not enough?
Hey Jim, just too help you out, the title of that article you posted ( "Republicans Still Skeptical of COVID-19 Lethality") needs to be corrected in order to be completely accurate. It's not just a republican thing, it's a science thing.
I Timothy 1:18-20 "This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme."
That poor man! If he ever thought that any kind of sensual music, even if it is called 'Christian' Rock, could be pleasing to God, he was very deceived from the beginning! That's heartbreaking!
