YIA, QC is correct. God made different jurisdictions. You’re conflating two different authorities. The civil minister is appointed by God to punish evil and reward good. The church is called to give grace, mercy, discipline, and the sacraments. A pastors job isn’t a kings job, and a kings job isn’t a pastors job.
Youth in Asia wrote: I just don't think it's right to kill (or in this case 14 years in an African jail) if the other party didn't steal, or murder anyone.
"2:12 For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law."
"3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin."
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
Luther also said people who don’t believe in the real body and blood in the Lords Supper are of a different spirit. Reformed people then and now don’t believe everything Luther said, hence the early split with the Swiss reformers. Quoting Luther or even Calvin in contravention of Scripture is pointless since the reformed belief is that of sola and tota scriptura.
SC - your comment doesn’t make sense to me. We’re talking about translations, not an original manuscript or translations of an original manuscript in the original language. Languages don’t have identical parallels in all manners, if they did, we’d only have one, frozen language for the whole world. Try to translate from modern English to modern Greek and see if what you’re suggesting is possible.
The fruit of fake discipleship, parenting, and church discipline is paganism, not poorly translated bible versions made for a quick buck. There are plenty of good translations that good churches can use.
