The church did not create this problem of male absenteeism in churches. The problem reverts back to MEN themselves who erroneously equate manliness with muscles. These are the same kind of men who treat their wives as "door-mats" calling it submission.

So give me Jesus, who was not ashamed to partake of my weaknesses, even dying the death of the Cross.

Hidemi, persevere in your work for the lord, though you may be discouraged at times. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake.

Dr. Mohler seems to be preparing "his brand of Christians" for any scientific research that may discover a biological causation of homosexulity. Dr. Mohler says if indded there is a connection between biology and homo then this should affect our pastoral approach to those who lead such lifestyles. But do we need science to teach how to love the world?
I am very surprise that Dr. Mohler, an evangelical leader is so accommodating to Science that undermines the truth. Dr. Mohler fails to realise that though our bodies have been affected by the Fall, it is not the body that initates sins. It is the soul. The body is only the instrument the instrument of sin.

Jesus says "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. All these evil things proceed from within and definle the man" (Mk.7:21-23).
O how I long to see the day when when and women seek to move the world not with their proud intellect but their effectual prayers.

No Cindy, God wouldn't get us "out of here!"
Surely you remember Jesus' prayer in John 17:15: "I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from evil."

No escapism here!

Forget that pre-wrath, pre-trib, mid-trib whatever rapture nonsese that is nowhere taught in the Bible!

Again, the victim in this mess as in all forms of murder is that poor child. But oftentimes God proves who is really in control.

Mr. Haggard "is authentically repentant and humble."

I didn't know that repentance and humility are mentioned in mega church circuses.

This article is a scathing testiomony of the barrenness of Rick Warren's understanding (rather lack thereof)of theology. "Now" he says, "it's easy to be biblical if you don't care about being relevant. And it's easy to be relavent if you don't care about being biblical. I happen to be both."

Really!!! Was Messiah relevant when he spoke to the crowds in parables so that seeing they do not see and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand?

But Warren betrays his true nature when he says "Every church has to make a decision,... Is it going to live for itself or is it going to live for the world that Jesus died for."

Appparantly Warren has decided to live for the world. The true people of God, however, live not for the world or for themselves but for the GLORY OF GOD!

Jeff says:
"If you put your hope in a politician, you are lacking as a Christian."

That may be true. But I don't think anyone here is putting their hope in a polititian. I believe that, as God's people we ought to exercise our civil obligations. But God establishes rulers. For as Paul says: "Let every soul be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God"(Rom.13:11)

Don't be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good(this is not a biblical quote). But fulfill your duty as a Christian (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
So go ahead and vote your conscience, and let God do the upbraiding!!!

Elliot's decision echoes that of another great of the 1920's, Eric Lideell(Chariots of Fire). And though some may disagree with him, his "probably more my conviction than than my parents'" ought to be strongly lauded!

This is a very troubling article.
My heart is severely pained.
Rivers of tears roll down my cheeks.
A nation has sold its sons and daughters to whoredom.
O may the faithful ones roll their heads in dust and ashes.
It is time for God's people to seek the Lord.
That He may withhold His wrath from this great nation!

Shawn: Indeed, they already STAND condemned. But the ACT of condemnation must be carried out. It's a terrible thing when God gives people over to their own desires (cf.1Kgs.22:20-23; Rom.1:28).In other words, the book was already thrown at them. But they must be placed in the slammer! Similarly, Satan is condemned already. But then he will be cast into the lake of Fire.

Dessie:

Indeed Ephesians 1 and 2 is a great compendiun on the doctrines of grace. How unfortunate that these sweet truths often are grounds of bitter divisions within the body of Christ! Ironically Chapter 4 has a lengthy discussion on Church unity.

Shawn:
God is not using the strong delusion to accomplish judgemt; rather it is (part of)the judgment itself. The point is: those who fail to love the truth will believe the lie.
And all this from the sovereign Lord. O Mystery of mysteries!!!

Shawn:
1)The ultimate purpose of the "strong delusion" is to judge (i.e. condemn) because God is righteous. His judgments are always just and fair.
2) No, the purpose for judgment is not found in v.11a. The phrase "dia touto", "because of this" is not a purpose but a causal clause. The purpose clause is found in verse 12a "hina". Note that god sends the strong delusions "so that" (Gk. eis to with the infinitive of purpose) they might believe what is false. But they alreasy rejected the truth. Hence we see in these few verses God's sovereignty and man's responsibility which are difficult to harmonize.
4) "Otherwise, Gid would be punishing for not having faith he didn't give them...court-marshaling a soldier for not shooting bullets at the enemy, when he wasn't given weapons and amminitions in the first place."
The problem, though, is, we are the enemies. And God was not obligated to enlist us in His army. But if He did, He will certainly aem us mightily.
5) Granted the term "aparche" may be translated "from the beginning" or "firstfruits". However, we cannot escape the fact that God chose the Thessalonians to salvation. Whatever we do in time, God decreed in eternity.

Michael from NY,
Herein lies the similarities between our views:
"Hearing the Word of God under the conviction of the Holy Spirit."

and the differenc:
ALL who come under the SAVING conviction of the Holy Spirit WILL respond in faith and repentance (Phillip. 1:6, 12-13).
