Given Craig is a faculty member at Biola/Talbot, it's interesting that to say the least that his position goes directly against their doctrinal statement.

Otherwise, the church should be removed from the convention.

Good on you JL for separating from them when you had the conviction...it's really sad that some wait so long that they would almost have to have been affected by the apostasy.

Can an individual have true assurance of salvation if they say they believe yet don't look like they have saving faith i.e. ongoing lack of evidence of conversion?

Everybody knows it's Romans 13

I assume you're inferring a two kingdom as opposed to the typical evangelical interpretation of full allegiance to governmental authority?

I just wanted to share with the SA folks on here, that the "Martyrs Mirror" by T.J Van Braght is a book that I am currently reading that is quite heart wrenching as it tells the stories of many of our Baptist brethren that suffered so much.

Great work Dorcas...in particular mainly "Anabaptist" brethren.

It can be downloaded for free, and I would highly recommend it to all who are interested!

My understanding is that a main driver of forming ECO as opposed to joining other moderately conservative pres denominations was the issue that the alternatives don't accept female pastoral ordination.

I never considered myself a pietist, but I think I know of a dozen websites that endeavor to align with Phil. 4:8,...can the same be said of television stations? Not from what I've seen lately.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

In my opinion the YRR / T4G crowd tends to see God's "love" as His overarching attribute in all too often a sloppy agape manner. This is opposed seeing all God's attributes through the lens of His holiness. Fundamental believers that emphasize a high view of God and His Sovereignty tend to not presume assurance of salvation when their conduct doesn't align with the Scripture...which is what right looks like.

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

2 Peter 2:20-22

I second that G's. Earlier I was going to ask what Driscoll's appeal is with the YRR crowd... based on the comments, I cab see it's partly due to his rebellious and irreverent attitude. And we know what Scripture thinks of rebels.

Why do most Christian forums at some point seem like a funeral where everybody is accusing everybody else of not crying enough ?
Could it be the tendency of some of us more seasoned types often having an increased propensity toward being cantankerous.

BTW, during the school days of my youth, one didn't need to be regenerate to recognize a "gender norm". But that was pre-1984.
