Well said, John. I am usually not a poster here, but the debate on this topic is very relevant to Christian Liberty and how we are to be in the world and not of it. Whether or not I have a beverage is something I must judge. "To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted." Titus 1:15 "I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean." Romans 14:14 I love you ALL for the time you take to discuss these issues.
SP, I have served the Lord as a missionary in Haiti and have served my community as a leader and councilor. I serve as God has gifted me. "Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?" 1 Corinthians 12:29 To demand that one exercise a gift he has not been given is folly. The command to go into the world and preach was given to whom? Apostles. Are you an Apostle? Did Paul compel those who were converted to go preach? Judge yourself. Christ shall judge me.
Street Preacher, Thanks for finding the shift key. Seeing as most readers and posters on this site profess Christianity, it seems a strange place for you to "practice" your preaching. Your ability in short order to respond to posts would seem to indicate you don't spend much time on the street practicing what you preach either. If you truly wished for readers to agree with your point of view, you would use a tone that invited one to listen and not be the "sounding gong" that one would tend to tune out. I admire your zealousness but would recommend words sweetened with honey vs vinegar. Sincerely and with liberty in Christ!
Street Preacher, I dread seeing your ALL CAPS posts because they are so repetitious. They are unreasonable and remind me of 1 Cor 13:1,"Though I speak with the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal." You do not seek to reason with others but to bully and demand. As I found in my dealings with Mormons, It is possible to be sincere, but be sincerely wrong. Try to be a blessing and not a curse.
I can't imagine why this could even be an issue since you can praise without music at all. If you must use music the only music you "Should" use is music that you like personally. Besides, "Psalms" is not a musical style since we don't know what style of music they used back then. We only have the lyrics.
