With their continued "zeal without knowledge", Congress has passed another law with little investigation into any ramifications.
For instance, what will happen to the high ranking line officers and chaplains that disagree with the new law? Will they be expelled from service?
Will the military be given funding to create private showers, restrooms and sleeping quarters?
How will unwanted same-sex advances be handled?
Thinking of the insanity of Sodom (just before their destruction), will there be unreported rapes? I just ask the question.
Is there a possibility that some of our troops may end up in legal troubles because of their inability to coop with these additional stresses and tensions?
Will the military see recruiting problems in the future?
Our heterosexual troops in the field are not interested in hearing anyone's "coming out" story while they are at peace or war - if homosexuals are sincerely interested in our nation's honor, should they keep their sexaul orientation to themselves (unless there is something more at stake than national defense)?
Would it not be better for our military to continue to practice the spirit of "don't ask, don't tell" until all these bugs can be ironed out?
There are many other issues that text space will not permit here...

Bob, you are making too much sense!
Hopefully, this judge is just insuring that everything is in order before passing final decision, but it still bothers me that Oklahoma doesn't have a judge somewhere that would say something real simple like, "I am so sorry, but personal religious law cannot over-ride Oklahoma law."
Maybe something good will come of this - maybe the dear folks in OK will get up off their duffs and vote the next time the polls are open.

I don't know what they are feeding you in Canada, but in the United States, we still have Christian liberty, and we will die for it.

I for one am glad to see this temple of false doctrine crumbling away, along with its senior pastor who falls under Paul's exhortation in 1 Cor 14:34-38 & 1 Tim 2:11-13.
Nevertheless, back to Schuller.
He started his whole "self-esteem Christianity" movement back in the 70's and it has ruined the souls of multitudes.
Schuller preached that sin is merely the lack of self-esteem and that the greatest evil is to call men sinners - after all this would injure their self-esteem! He taught that there is no need for one to recognize his own personal sin and no need for repentance – a complete denial of the Gospel that Jesus taught!
When questioned about whether a Christian is saved from the wrath of God, he stated that he could not use that language. When challenged that the Bible uses that language, he stated that the Bible is a contradiction.
He once stated that he preached repentance so positively, most people did not recognize it.
Let me tell you this – and I cannot be more emphatic - a Christian without the inner witness of the Holy Spirit testifying within the Christian that he or she is saved from the very wrath of God to come on all the earth is no Christian at all!

Yes, we can quote scripture about the foolishness of a child's heart.
Let me tell you about my experience with some parents that brought their 3 year old to my church one day with one of those play wooden hammers. The child pounded his hammer onto the back of the pew for 15 minutes straight until the preacher halted his sermon to pray that God would remove the distraction from our midst - and still, these parents were oblivious to their young blooming John Henry. I finally thought it my duty as a God fearing man to attempt what I thought was a gracious jesture by quietly offering to these poor folk the use of our nursery. Wow, from the dirty looks that I received, maybe they thought I offered a 'hearse for thee' instead of a 'nursery' - I don't know. But after the service, these folks abruptly left the church and never returned. Too bad because inspite of the racket that preacher and our entire congregation endured, the preacher's prayer had indeed been heard by God as he preached one of the best gospel messages that I had ever heard, but those folks probably neither heard it with their ears or their heart.
So then, say what you will about children and their foolishness - many of them are still running around in adult bodies.

In this now upside down world, any such consideration as this is possible, but let me tell you this, if they allow a muslim mosque to be built at ground zero, this would be the biggest spit in the faces of New Yorkers that I can think of. It was not too long ago when there were men in public office that would not even have allowed such a thing as this to even have been considered. Now, if the mosque must go up, and it won't be by the grace of God but by the sins of our nation, I propose that a large riveted in place brass plaque with the names of all the American officials that allowed this tragedy be imprinted at its main entrance as a testimony to their shame for all to see.
I for one will donate the first ten dollars for such a plaque.

With evident direction at trying to win the hearts of and befriend the muslim world, the current US administration does nothing but further harden the hearts of the muslim world against the US with these kind of policies. Does not Washington know that it is very likely that the muslim world sees a "supposed" Christian nation celebrating LGBT month as nothing more than proof that the US is comprised of more or less totally depraved citizens of hell worthy of nothing less than death and eradication from the face of the earth?
These policies and measures prove to me that Washington's anti-God politics are not even logical!
I hope that any muslim observation of this kind of non-sense policy making (replacing the sanctity of life with policies that will usher in the spiritual death of America) will know that not all Americans believe that is what America stands for; that is not what Americans believes; that America is being gravely misrepresented; that there are true Christians in America that do not display this supposed political sincerity without truth; that there are still many in America that are still on fire for Christ and the love, truth, grace, and godliness that comes through Him.

I see the comment about the pastor of this church possibly being unconverted. Although I am not privy to that condition, I do have something to say about church membership.
(1) Christ intended the church to remain pure, i.e., true Christians with evident faith and the gift of repentance should be members.
(2) New members wishing to join a Christian church should submit their written testimony - much can be told about a person from this - if Christ is lacking, the church should hold off on laying on of hands until fruits are evident that Christ is centered in and has changed their lives. Even a babe in Christ can write of how they were lost in sin, but now belong to Christ with evident fruit.
(3) Do not baptize or issue communion to unbelievers - these are meant for God's people, not the world. Beware of practicing closed communion.
(4) Pastors should preach on subjects that will cut the wolves to the heart and draw the sheep closer to Christ - beware of pastors lording over the faith or becoming harsh.
(5) Pastors need to be accountable to other pastors - if dual pastors are not present, employ equally yoked pastors from other churches.
(6) Pray that the Holy Spirit would keep the church pure - beware of members developing critical spirits based on legalism.

Wow! This is nothing more that the same propaganda from the Dr Spock days rearing its ugly head again and written, most likely, by well-meaning folks that do not have children, and do not know or care what the Bible says about the issue. The only problem with spanking is that it is not administered correctly and for the right reasons. Why Sermon Audio is posting this article is beyond me?

Thank you, ah, Mr. Heston, for keeping us in good humor... but the original quote started with "We finally really did it..." Oh and by the way, thanks for not using the name of the Lord in vain as Charlton did in his movie.

Dear TULIP,
If I may, please allow my 2 cents.
(1) Arminians differ from Calvinists in varying degrees, but most believe that we are saved because we make a decision for Christ of our own volition or choice and that we are save through God's grace. Calvinsts differ from Arminians in varying degrees, but non-hyper Calvinists believe we are saved by going to Christ and we receive salvation through God's grace - when you look at it like this, the differences really are trivial. I once heard a Calvinist preacher say that we all get what we want. I have seen Arminians pray like Calvinists believe, and Calvinists pleading for men to be saved like Arminians. The point I am making is this: love your weaker brethren that don't have theological expertise.
(2) You speak of the AV as being the cure-all. Remember that the 1611 AV is non-readable and that the popes refused to allow the Bible to be printed in the people's language. Versions like the NASB are very accurate to the Greek. Need to be careful we are not popish in our thinking.

TULIP wrote:
Arminiam gives hope (false) to the professing Christian. The Doctrines of Grace (Calvinism) gives hope to the True Christian. And, prayerfully, the churches will return to the Authorized Version.

I stayed in the Sacramento area for a while - some of the direct descendants of the Donner party are there, but I think this is strictly California liberals in tune with the mindset of their liberal politicians. Nevertheless, there are many really godly people living in CA - may God bless them to be strong in their answers to this latest assault of "we don't need God" campaign.

Per the one billoard message, let's define "good". In Luke 18 Jesus asks the question of a ruler, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God". Now certainly Jesus indicated that this ruler did not even know who he was approaching - if he had, the ruler would not have flippantly addressed him as just a "good teacher". But Jesus also points out the fact (as does Paul in Rom 3:10 and following) that there is none truly good except God.
Men are capable of doing many relative good things without God's saving grace, such as giving to the poor, not commiting adultery with his neighbor's wife, not stealing time from his boss, and even not coveting the things that do not belong to him. But even if there is a man who claims these works, if not wrought in the cleansing blood of Christ, they shall not be acceptable to God on the day of judgment and therefore not truly good in God's eyes after all.

I have seen this passage in 1 Cor 3 used in all kinds of interesting ways but never in the context of church building fires.
My understanding of this passage is that if we preach any doctrines which are not of God, our work will suffer loss. Paul then goes on to warn those who would attempt to destroy the church by preaching false doctrine. This makes more sense in what Paul says next in connecting that line of thinking with those within the church professing themselves to be wise. But there is much controversy over this section of scripture.

You can also see Matthew Henry's opinion at
http://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/matthew-henry-complete/1-corinthians/3.html

It saddens my heart to see this kind of violence against the Christian church - those dear folks are probably a little more in touch with worldwide persecution now. But if they are true believers, even the gates of hell will not keep them from continued growth in Christ.

I have participated in the Gospel of John program for Houston - in light of this story, I encourage you to give to that ministry today.

I must beg your pardon but have you ever read the "true" authorized King James version of 1611? You can't even read it because of the old English language. The KJV that you are reading today is also a translation!
Now just think about what was taking place before the Reformation - the Bible was not being printed in the people's language. There are certainly some paraphrases (and even translations) out there today that I would not recommend reading, but man, wake up - there are some really good translations. The NASB is way more true to the original greek than the KJV!

IS Because ALL The TRUE Judeo-Christian "Evangelical/Fundamentalist" Street-Preachers, Open-Air Evangelists & Personal-Contact Soul-Winners Are NOT Using THE AUTHORIZED ENGLISH "KING JAMES" HOLY BIBLE SCRIPTURES: Like They WERE Using THE LAST FEW BIBLICAL GENERATIONS (30-to-70 Yrs) AGO ! ! !

I believe, sometimes, a war can be won by waging small battles. I am blessed to find people who are willing to stand against the issues of the day, especially if those issues are the very same that Christ would stand against!

I appreciate that this speaker is willing to stand opposed to many milk-tost preachers who attribute the very acts of God's judgment to satan (yes, I understand there are mysteries here, but God is ultimately in control of everything) - if we believe that calamities all come from satan, does this not set up in the minds of many that satan is the all powerful one? I also appreciate that the speaker points out the teaching of Jesus in Luke 13:4, that just because calamities happen in our neighbor's backyard does not mean we are less a sinner in need of repentance. I also appreciate that the speaker draws attention to the fact that these present day judgments cannot be compared to the far greater calamity (for those outside of Christ) coming at the Day of the Lord when the countless will be judged not able to enter in.

I see that someone wrote concerning the antichrist, "He's none other than the Pope..."
Although I understand this thinking is in line with many of the godly reformers who wrote confessions to state such (e.g., see the London Baptist 1689 Confession Ch 26), there is no scripture proof for such. Don't get me wrong - I am not pro-Catholic - I am merely stating that it is possible that the anitchrist can arise out of a non-religious environment - he will nonetheless one day rule over all religions on the earth, but he will never rule over the Savior's victorious church which the gates of hell cannot prevail against. Revelation indicates that he will rise up out of the earth, but does not even hint that he will rise up out of a lineage of popes; therefore to state such is mere conjecture.
