I never said the olive tree was about the millennial reign. The Millennium can be a different subject for another day. I don't understand why you are so hung up on it.

And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
Romans 11:23

I brought up the millennial reign because B. McCausland said there is no mention of a Jewish kingdom in the new earth. I said there is one mentioned during the reign of Christ. I'm not sure what his point of bringing it up was.

You said Gentiles being cut off didn't make sense. Is that because you think being grafted into the Olive tree is synonymous with being saved?

Thanks for your help. However, verse 13 clearly says Paul is speaking to the Gentiles. Then he says:

And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree,
Romans 11:17

You (Gentiles) being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them (Jews). So Gentiles are grafted in among the Jews, to partake of the root and the fatness of the cultivated olive tree, but they do not become the Jews. There is still a distinction between the two.

The cultivated olive tree is Israel, the roots are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the wild olive tree branches are Gentiles.

I assure you that Israel was and is again a real physical nation with physical people living in it as citizens and to whom real physical covenants belong. You can Google it!

Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
Romans 11:22

Being cut off is the terminology used. So what about that doesn't make sense to you?

B. McCausland...

What position would that be?

Nonetheless, it is Israel's tree. To them belong the covenants. Gentiles are grafted in, but will one day be cut off just like Israel and Israel will be grafted back in.

Maybe not in the new earth, but definitely during the millennial reign of Christ.

do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
Romans 11:18‭, ‬23‭-‬24

You do not support the root, the root supports you. The tree belongs to Israel and they will be grafted into their own olive tree once again.

2. Concerning election.

“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 7:6‭-‬8

Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

When God rescued Israel out of Egypt, it wasn't because of their faith. It was because they were descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God has a physical people, country, and land that is His. Gentiles are only grafted into Israel and if they continue in disbelief will also be cut off and thrown into the fire. The promises of God belong to the Jew first and then to the Gentile. If God has forsaken the Jews, there is no hope for Gentiles.

The main reason I support Israel is because God supports Israel. God has determined that it would exist at this time.

And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
Acts 17:26

Israel also hasn't done anything wrong in becoming a nation. They bought up the land when nobody else wanted it and have developed a productive society there all the while being attacked by Palestinian terrorist.

I remember back in the day the excitement of going into the darkroom and developing film just to see if the shot turned out alright or not, lol. All of that is instantaneous now with digital.

Y'know, something came to me earlier today concerning this contentious issue. For those who believe that babies are innocent and not under the curse of Adam, then why aren't you pro-choice and lobbying to have all babies killed? If they get a free pass, then aren't we being cruel raising them to the age of accountability? Something to think about, hmm?
Because murder is a sin too.

I didn't see mention of it in the article but the prisoner converted to Islam while in prison and was on a prisoner day out program when he did this. It might be best to keep prisoners in prison!

Whatever the terminology is, Jesus didn't pay the full penalty for anyone's individual sins. He suffered physical death only.

John UK...
What you are saying just isn't validated in scripture. Your logic is convoluted and I didn't even think you liked using logic.

Why would the sinner cease to exist? I understand you are a Calvinists and feel the need to close up any gaps in your understanding with story telling, but I'm a biblicalist and I can't do that!

If I died in the place of Jesus, I couldn't do what He did being the sinner that I am. To say He died in my place infers that. There is no need to punishment sin where sin has been done away with. It's as if it never happened.

John UK...

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Romans 10:4

Christ is righteousness to everyone who believes. That means His righteousness is given to believers.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
II Corinthians 5:21

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 3:21‭-‬26

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—
I Corinthians 1:30

Yet the body is still dead because of sin. That will change at the resurrection.

You are not saved by your own righteousness, you are saved by becoming righteous in Christ. How do you think it is that righteousness comes by faith? Why do you think believers are baptized into Christ for?!

Jesus didn't suffer eternal death on anyone's behalf. There isn't anything in the Bible that says what you are trying to push. Yes, Jesus suffered on our behalf, but it wasn't a payment of retribution. We our saved because of what He did at the cross, but ultimately we are saved in Christ. Being clothed in His righteousness.
