joetheplumber wrote: It was wrong for Paisley to form the present power-sharing government, but sadly he will not repent of doing any wrong. Now that becomes his problem. Paisley did not form the government - the voters did.But you still appear to be missing the point of Romans 13 - that God is the one who provides the authority of governments. Please try to remember we live in an imperfect world, which means we will always have sinners in our governments. Rom 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation." Please try to avoid damnation. Prov 28:2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged. |

joetheplumber wrote: You quote mrs.a.merica as writing something that in fact are your words: "Paisley had the guts to take it.....You go on to quote the Bible from Romans 13:1..... When we find however that the local / civil authority is in conflict with the Word of GOD, then we must resist the civil authority. So when DR. PAISLEY aligned himself with both unrepentant.... Joe the ???? First the reason I quoted what I said and what mrs.a.merica posted is because they line up together what I was responding too.On Romans 13 - The point is that GOD (not the voter) establishes the "authority" in the nation. Paul was actually teaching this when he and his people were under the "Romans" rule. So the point made by Paul is a very powerful one, in regard to the established government - good or bad!!! Therefore your point about disobedience to the incumbent civil authority is in contradiction to Romans 13. As for whom Dr. Paisley "aligned" himself with - Thats democracy! ie who the people voted for - got in. Joe the plumber might want McCain but if he gets Obama then he lives and works with that. YOUR current administration is NOT in accord with the Word of God, - Are YOU in active resistance with them??? |

mrs.a.merica wrote: With respect to Mr. Paisley, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." As believers, we are instructed in God's Word to "prove all things",(1 Thess. 5:21) May I first say mrs.a.merica, that I don't believe Paisley is a false teacher/preacher. I think that he has already proved that in his preaching and life in FPC.He has invariably been judged and criticised for the political circumstance which he is seen to have become embroiled in. But the voters have only themselves to blame for the results they get when they put a group of politically correct politicians in power. One man does not maketh a legislation in these modern "Democracies"(?) in which we live. Christians can if they like bury their heads in the sand and live in perfect harmony with their doctrines, whilst the rest of the nation passes them by. Alternatively they can stay and fight, - And YES they may be tainted by the world, - BUT fight on and struggle to promote the Christian message. Results may not happen overnight as some posters seem to expect, but then God is still in charge. Please try and remember this world is not perfect. |
