“ Reformed Worship, Easter, Christmas and the RPW ”
Thanks for the comment MS! This quote is also helpful: "In 1899, the General Assembly of the PCUS was overtured to give a "pronounced and explicit deliverance" against the recognition of "Christmas and Easter as religious days." Even at this late date, the answer came back in a solid manner: "There is no warrant in Scripture for the observance of Christmas and Easter as holydays, rather the contrary (see Gal. 4:9-11; Col. 2:16-21), and such observance is contrary to the principles of the Reformed faith, conducive to will-worship, and not in harmony with the simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." - Kevin Reed, Christmas: An Historical Survey Regarding Its Origins and Opposition to It - Free Online Book at http://ow.ly/vUGZ8.

“ Free Christian Resources About Birth Control ”
If any one is interested in further study about birth control, especially the classic Protestant position, please see all the free Protestant MP3s, Quotes, etc., at http://ow.ly/ucop7 "THE BIBLE AND BIRTH CONTROL (FREE REFORMATION RESOURCES)". Following is one quote taken from this page: "We have found not one orthodox theologian to defend Birth Control before the 1900's NOT ONE! On the other hand, we have found that many highly regarded Protestant theologians were enthusiastically opposed to it, all the way back to the very beginning of the Reformation... those in favor of Birth Control will find no one in the orthodox Protestant camp for the first four centuries to ally themselves with." - Charles Provan, The Bible and Birth Control, p. 63.

“ John Calvin's Mature View On Resistance To Tyranny ”
The following quote speaks of John Calvin's mature thinking about resistance to illegitimate civil rulers. "One factor behind this rising tension was that Huguenot political rhetoric had required a decidedly anti-royalist tone during the second and third civil wars. While Calvin’s Institution of the Christian Religion seemed to suggest that private citizens owed their obedience even to an ungodly king -- only lesser magistrates could legally oppose the authority of a wicked king -- his biblical commentaries published late in his life offered more intriguing possibilities. In his Readings on the Prophet Daniel first published in 1561, Calvin argued that when Daniel refused to obey King Darius, ‘he committed no sin’, since whenever rulers disobeyed God, ‘they automatically abdicate their worldly power’. Calvin went even further in his Sermons on the Last Eight Chapters of the Book of Daniel published posthumously in 1565. Describing the same biblical incident, Calvin argued that when Kings defy God, ‘they are no longer worthy to be counted as princes… [And] when they raise themselves up against God… it is necessary that they should in turn be laid low’." - Mack P. Holt, The French Wars of Religion 1562-1629, (New York: Cambridge University Press, 1995, 2005), p. 78.

“ John Knox On Resistance To Tyranny, Ungodly Gov. ”
John Knox was also very clear about what the Bible teaches regarding qualifications for civil rulers. "No manifest idolater, nor notorious transgressor of God's holy precepts, ought to be promoted to any public regiment [i.e. government—GLP], honour, or dignity, in any realm, province, or city that has subjected itself to his blessed evangel". - John Knox, from "Summary of the Proposed Second Blast of the Trumpet" (1558), as cited in Greg Price, Biblical Civil Government Versus The Beast; and The Basis for Civil Resistance -- free online book at http://ow.ly/l9G2i or http://www.swrb.com/newslett/FREEBOOK/GPrice.htm

“ Rutherford On Resistance To Tyranny, Ungodly Gov. ”
One of the Scottish Commissioners to the Westminster Assembly (and one of the best theologians, by God's grace, in the history of the Church), Samuel Rutherford, wrote, "I lay down this maxime of Divinitie; Tyranny being a worke of Sathan, is not from God, because sinne either habituall or actuall, is not from God; the power that is, must be from God; the Magistrate as Magistrate, is good, in nature of office, and the intrinsecall end of his office, Rom. 13:4. for he is the Minister of God for thy good; and therefore a power ethicall, politick, or morall, to oppresse, is not from God, and is not a power, but a licentious deviation of a power, and is no more from God, but from sinfull nature, and the old serpent, then a license to sinne." - Samuel Rutherford, Lex, Rex, or the Law and the Prince (1644, on the Puritan Hard Drive)

“ Arminianism Another Gospel - Spurgeon, Edwards ... ”
And yet, Old Norwegeon, we see no Scripture in your comment, just your own "reason, logic, and philosophy" -- thus you have rebuked yourself by your own words (which were not Scriptural in the first place, as the Bible instructs us to listen to teachers who are faithful to the Scripture, 1 Corinthians 11:1, Song of Solomon 1:8, etc., insofar as their words agree with Scripture). Nevertheless, hear what the King of kings declares in the Bible: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. (Eph. 1:11, KJV) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44, KJV) But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. (Psalm 115:3, KJV)

“ Arminianism Another Gospel - Spurgeon, Edwards ... ”
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (Daniel 4:35, KJV) Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. (Rom. 9:18, KJV) (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. (Rom. 9:11-13, KJV) ... whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world ... (Revelation 17:8, KJV) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. (Eph. 1:4-5, KJV)
