Sermon:
C.S. Lewis - False Teacher
Laurence Justice

“ Very informative. Thank you! ”
I have read some of his works and liked them but did think it odd that people from so many walks adore him, non-Christian alike. That's always a warning sign for me. I never researched his doctrinal position and am thankful for this work. God bless you!

Being a Yankee and having been in and now out of Southern Baptist Churches their (quote) name is NOT their problem. So let me consider how to put this???? Could we say their real probleem is their BUSINESS OF RELIGION?
Failure to address the Masonic Lodge Issue (they give too much money and it would be divisive)
Tolerance and outright embracing of false teachers like Rick Warren and his purpose driven (quote) Community Church movement (after all there is a lot of money in his worldly popular his 40 Days of Purpose).
Of course the list could go on and on and the SBC should serve as an example to avoid of downgrade away from the faith, the faith we can only have if by the grace of God we stay faithful to the Bible (I seem to remember something of how they came up with and sell their own translation of the Bible)
Now if God changes their name to something like???? REPENTANT BAPTIST CONVENTION that would be a wonderful thing.
Amen! Bro. Michael. Iv'e seen us go from the Conservative Resurgence, to the Carnal Recreaction mode.

Jim, I know and believe the 5 Solas & that God requires a God righteousness which no fallen man can ever offer to God because of original sin. That is why the Lord Jesus is called in the OT 'the Lord our Righteousness'. The law is our school master to bring us to Christ, "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace.."
We will fight the good fight of the faith against the world, the flesh and the devil until we depart to be with Christ, which is far better.
The Christian Sabbath was never abrogated in the NT.
Hi Ruth. Iv'e been observing your posts, and just wanted to say that we are in agreement with many of them. We have been studying A.W. Pink and Edwards regarding many of these things. And have come to a different undersdtanding than the usual dispensational scheam we once used to hold. My wife would like to corrospond with you concerning this as well as others of the doctrines of grace. If you feel inclined, send us an e mail.

I don't know if their being Hispanic has as much to do with it as does the fact that many are leaving organized religion in favor of the "Do church on my own terms" approach. What is surprizing many people though, is that even in the Non denominational churches, there are still standards and expectations. With peoples selfish approach to church, some are even leaving the Non Traditional Inovative churches.

Traditional is wrong if it exalts man made tradition over the scripture. But, Inovation is also wrong for exalting the New and Novel over the scripture. People who love the World will seek for a Worldy church.

"The devil has seldom done a cleverer thing than hinting to the Church that part of their mission is to provide entertainment for the people, with a view to winning them...providing amusement for the people is nowhere spoken of in the Scriptures as a function of the Church...Charles Spurgeon"

Carlos,
I respectfully beg to differ with you. I am a 22-yr-old young lady -- not far out of my teenage years. One of the things that frustrated me most as a teenager was the attitude of many adults in my (former) church that treated the teenagers as if we were incapable of understanding deep spiritual truth and making important, life-changing decisions. I remember being so hungry for truth as even a young teenager, and being frustrated when all I got was Bible stories or a superficial lesson on "teen issues."
Well said. I was saved as a 17 yr old back in the mid 70s, and there was a real spiritual awakening going on in out town. So much so, that the Youth Group, as a youth group disloved. The young people did not leave the church, rather, they wanted to be part of the church services, prayer meetings, and street witnessing rather than go to Six Flags and persue youthfull trivialities.

There is a saying: What you win them with, you win them to. Another: What you win them with, you have to keep them with. The main reason young people respond to carnal worldy methodology, is because many are carnal and worldly. Let the bible be preached in the power of the Holy Spirit, and have the saints on their knees interceeding.

Sean Porterfield wrote:
God imposed His wrath due unto, and the Son underwent the pains of hell for, either:
All the sins of all men.
All the sins of some men, or
Some sins of all men.
In which case it may be said:
If the last, some sins of all men, then have all men some sins to answer for, and so shall no man be saved.
If the second, that is it which we affirm, that Christ in their stead and room suffered for all the sins of all the elect in the world.
But if the first be true, why are not all men free from the punishment due unto their sins?
You answer, "Because of their unbelief."
I ask, "Is this unbelief a sin, or is it not? If it is, then Christ suffered the punishment due unto it, or He did not. If He did, why must that hinder them more than their other sins for which He died? If He did not, He did not die for all their sins!"
– John Owen
Thanks for that quote Sean. It does get to the heart of the Atonement issue. I used to preach vehemently against the doctrine (being a fan of Finney at the time) But through the minisrty of Lawson, whose church I would attend when I was not preaching, along with Sermon Audio,Spurgeon, Edwards and Whitefeild, I have come to appreciate the doctrine.

and everyone else who prayed
Thank you so much for your prayers. Stephanie's knee surgery went much better than we expected. The doctor didn't have to cut the bone in her leg to bring her knee cap back into its proper position. He told us when he began the procedure and released the ligaments/tendons (?) on the side of her knee her knee cap shifted back into place sparing having to cut bone and relign everything to do so, leaving him to only have to tie and tighten up everyhing where it should have been since she injured it.
I am very appreciative to God for His mercy and grace in His answers to prayer. Stephanie and my wife Sarah are as well.
Again Thank You and Thank God
Sorry I missed yor call. I'm glad everything turned out well. The Lord bless as you and your family continue to seek your will.

Thank there Lord there are are people like Herman Cain who will speak the truth on issues.

Welfare is needed, plain and simple. It does not reward bad decisions, its put food on the table for mothers who have been abandoned and left to support their kifs on their own.
That's what was intended. But if you believe there are not holes in the system that are being exploited, then you are out of touch with the reality of the situation.
Having worked in several Benevolence Groups, I saw first hand that many of the entitlement programs end up doing exactly what you said they don't. Women purpously having babies by men that they know won't marry them, so they can get the Child Credit. People living together instead of getting married, because they will lose their welfare if they do. Volumed more can be written and documented.

Sad to say, some churches are to blame for not ministering to the needy. Instead, some, leave it up to the Government. Then turn around and comlpain about Socialism. Our forst job is to meet spiritual needs, but not to neglect the physical.

It's the same old thing every year. "Baptisms" Counting noses. Very little is ever said of true conversions and changed lives. It's just "How many can we count as baptised to look good in the Alabama Baptist".

It's no surprize that many of our churches have gone the Seeker Sensitive, Market/Entertainment Driven approach. I am dad to say that we have become more concerned with numbers than souls.

Glad to see someone else is alarmed by Arnold Murray's Psudo Adventist teaching. There are some in our area that follow him explicitly. He has some Camping charactaristics in that he tells people to leave the churches and just watch his broadcast.

This seems to be misdirection. Most of the problems are not with the Purpouse Driven life (yet there are problems with it), but the majority, of deserved critisism, is with the Purpouse Driven Church.

Yes I have heard negativity about both books that were not well founded, that came from people who just did not like it because it was different. Yet an honest evaluation of the Purpouse Driven Church will reveal countless problems with it. The "Everything must change - Now" approach is not only Not Biblicaly founded, but anithetical to scriptural teaching.

For an honest evaluation of the subject; Paul Elliot with The Scripture Driven Broadast, on this site,is one of the best. The lonk to his ministry can be found also.

http://www.sermonaudio.com/source_detail.asp?sourceID=ttw

BTW I believe Piper started going off the rail long before this with his worldy approach to worship.

Ooohhh...that's what happened. So we all had an invisible rapture then...? No wonder I think I'm still here. I'm actually not, but it just seems like I am.
It's like on that show Lost, All those seasons, all the twist and turns, traveling back and forth trhough time, being rescued, going back to the island, the big explanation of the final episode: They all died when the plane crashed. The whole thing was an afterlife hallucination.

Seriously though: you almost have to feel sorry for someone like Camping he is obviously senile.

Jim. You PreMill's like Camping have taken the unBiblical view to arrive at this theory of flying Christians and the promise of eternal life only being for 1000 years.
You might want to check out Camping further. He is actally A Mill. I made to same mistake when writting Kevin Swanson's ministry. I Googled Camping Pre Mill and found he was, actually A Mill. He believed the Absolute end would be today.

I know Jesus warned not to call anyone a Fool, But this president is acting like a fool. Even if ones echatology is not pre millenial (which would put Obama in the position of canidating as the Anti Christ)Still the U.S does not have jurisdiction over Israel's affairs.
