Sermon:
Preaching The Gospel In Confused Times
Rev David Silversides

“ Good insight and counsel ”
Very much appreciate your good insight that God's fear emits fury. Truly, it is the fear of God through JESUS Christ and Lord with us that elicits the greatest rage and fury from unsaved men. God will have the last say after all the dust settles. Thank you for the good word from the book of Matthew. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

“ Sweet comfort in the way ”
Good to be reminded that God is in command. Good to trust in the good shepherd. Good to lay up treasures in heaven. Thank you for your gracious prayers. Romans 8:27-28 (27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Sermon:
A word about women from the King of the...
Rev David Silversides

comments
“ This is an hard saying; who can hear it? ”
In the sermon "A word about women from the King of the church," Reverend David Silversides preaches particularly on 1 Corinthians 14, verses 34 and 35: "(34) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."  In keeping with "Old French silence", "c. 1200", women are to "keep silence", "muteness, state of being silent" or "absence of sound" in the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/search?q=keep+silence).   In keeping with "late Old English predician, a loan word from Church Latin", women are forbidden "to preach, give a sermon",  "to proclaim publicly, announce", "to proclaim, to say", "to show" or to "pronounce solemnly" the Word of God "in front of, before" the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/word/preach)."  Nevertheless, Proverbs 31:1-31 are "(1) The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him."

“ A very edifying sermon ”
Good to be encouraged to keep following the Lord Jesus Christ and abide in prayer. God answers prayer and helps in the way. Hebrews 13:5-6 (5) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Sermon:
Reforming our Worship (Part 1)
Rev. John Wagner
1
comment
“ Preachers need prayer too ”
May God have pity upon the churches, preachers and people of Columbia, South Carolina. Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same time sweet water and bitter? Matthew 7:16,20 16. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Song of Solomon 5:16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Christ Revealed in Aaron's Mitre
Rev. John Thackway

“ How Great Thou Art ”
So wonderful to see the parallel between Aaron and our High Priest, JESUS: HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD. How great the condescension of JESUS in going between to save and give us the victory through His blood. Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. 1 Cor. 15:51-54 (51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

“ To touch the hem of His garment ”
Such condescension and accommodation in that He speaks to mere humans in the high way that transcends understanding and elicits divine response. Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Sermon:
The Mode of Baptism
Rev. John Greer
1
comment
“ One Lord, one faith, one baptism ”
Mode of baptism is a thorny issue. I think that the condescension and ascension of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, shines light on the matter. Matthew 3:13-17: 13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Ephesians 4:9-10 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

“ A Solemn Warning and a Heart-felt Plea ”
Praise and thanks and glory be to the LORD, GOD, Almighty, power to save and power to condemn. A solemn warning of the law of the harvest, that all Men reap what they sow. A heart-felt plea to lost sinners to come to the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, now, before it is too late.

“ A Concise and Lively Lecture on Church History! ”
Thank you for your concise and lively lecture on church history entitled "The History of Redemption (Early Church to 1300 AD)": a clear testimony of God's free grace at liberty in the lives of His lambs in each generation. May we be blessed to hear more good reports this year in commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. The chatter of the young listeners at the close of the lecture is clear evidence that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is alive and well in the 21st century centers of learning: the church.

“ Thoughtful Summary of the English Reformation ”
Thank you for your thoughtful discussion of the three men, Hugh Latimer, Nicholas Rigby and Thomas Cromwell, who were arrested, put on trial and burned at the stake for rejecting the false doctrine of transubstantiation and defending the Bible-based doctrine of salvation by grace and the church ordinance of the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Him--core issues at the heart of the English Reformation that are still relevant today. Ephesians 2:8-10 (8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast. (10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

“ Very Insightful Church History Lecture! ”
Thank you for your very insightful lecture on the Puritans and their providential part in shaping church history, beginning in the Reformation Period about A.D. 1564. Very interesting to learn how Puritanism impacted and became embedded in all manner, aspects and qualities of English life through the church--in government, work, business, marriage, family and the home--by means of sound preaching of the Word of God, the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit. James 3:17-18 (17)But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (18) And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

“ He is Able ”
Thank you for reminding listeners that God is with us and it is his glorious and gracious presence that makes all the difference, in this world and in the world to come. Jesus said, "If it were not so, I would have told you." 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
