Great Sermon! My thought life, alone, means that I would not escape! Christ being full of grace and truth, thoughts of Him are the only thoughts worth having but how prone I am to neglecting Him. A sinner to the end! Thank you Pastor Shepard for your clarity in preaching.
Truth. I never thought of it like that, people don't know unless you tell them. God's robots was the first response. Another was an awkward lull in the conversation. My own personal unworthyness didn't help at the time.
Thank you Pastor.
Amazing Grace. The truth is that I'm adulterer and a murderer every day that I live. I'm a sinner! It surprises me every day how mush so, self righteousness rises even in me! Amazing really.
Amazing Grace indeed. As I write I know myself to be a liar too.
Awe. When I heard Pastor Shepard say that He willed that His people should be where He is, and that included the cross, like the thief, I couldn't help saying 'remember me Lord'. He is the potter and I'm the clay in His grace!
The tell-tale sign. So many preachers skirt around this, talking about the faithfulness of Christ without stating, categorically Christ's faith and the Father's faith in Him as the basis of salvation. So many people talk about believing, and seem so confident, but they're not interested in the faith of Christ. One can only read this in the Authorised Version as the Revised Version and, all others, turned it to faith 'in' Christ. A travesty. Thank you Pastor Shepard. I am a sinner but all my trust is in the 'faith of Christ'.
God glorifying!!! Pastor Gary Shepard doesn't preach the 'Reformed' view, he preaches Christ, the Wisdom of god. He brings scripture to bear on scripture. There's always something to pray over to the God who teaches His people.
I thank God for Pastor Shepard.
Great Sermon! Thank you for this informative discussion, especially the description of reformation leaders and the church situation 500 years ago. As was stated in the podcast the Lutheran Satire link on Youtube is both educational and funny. Thanks!
Great Sermon! Thank you, men, for this discussion on this great article. Along with you I'm amazed we are even discussing things like this these days. This ideology is sending many young people down one more false path. This is scary stuff. Leaning on Jesus, we need wisdom and courage to face what's going on now right around us. How we even got to this place was a very important question that was brought up. Thank you for your thoughts.
Great Sermon! Great podcast. Did your survey include Wisconsin synod and Missouri synod Lutherans? I joined the Wisconsin synod last year. They broke away from mainstream Lutherans in the 70s. Both are almost exactly like reformed churches--stress on Bible, pro life, anti LGBT, etc. The only difference is that Lutherans put more stress on Lord's supper. And these churches are healthy and growing. I hear the beautiful sound of babies and young children during each sermon. There is hope for God's church.
Great Sermon! Thanks for the reminder of the 9/11 tragedy. It was just before 10 p.m. here in Japan when I came home from an English lesson at our church. I first thought the TV was showing some odd special effects from a science fiction movie. After the repeated showing of the attacks on TV we had no idea what would happen next and what the world would be like when we woke up in the morning.
Joe USA wrote: Sorry Mr. Graham but the problem starts first with God not being in the churches. Many churches have flirted with the world and preach a watered down or false gospel to bring up the numbers of warm bodies in attendance. The only way to do so is to not preach against sin. The church not preaching against sin is to make a deal with the world. This is a big no no. What separates us from God? Sin. Prayer. Praying according to His will is also part of proper worship. With this said, I have not achieved in this area. I fail miserably. Lord help me help us all to do the will of the Father. We know that an election isn't going to fix this nation. But that your people turn from their idols and run to Christ Jesus. Amen
This man is a hero. He is rendering unto Gods what is Gods.
