Inserting my opinion here... Some men abuse God's instructions for wives to submit to their husbands and use it as a means to control and intimidate women. It is spiritual abuse and probably quite rampant in the church. My advice to the bully men doing this is a quick repentance before they have to face their Creator and explain their wicked behavior. Now, as a Christian wife I try to be submissive to my husband, but when he's being a bully, I tell both him and the LORD.

I agree with Anne (see first comment) and want to add that I can think of nothing more stupid than a woman giving up motherhood for worldly ambition. I am happily the mother of two sons and frankly glad to have had the commonsense needed to be a good wife and mother.

I just can't use statistics from the pro-abort Guttmacher Institute in good conscience. If they are murderers, couldn't they also be liars?

I remember hearing RC Sproul once say that Christians need to be taught logic, and after reading some of the flippant comments posted here of the government spying on private citizens, I wholeheartedly agree. It's no wonder we've become the butt of the world's jokes as we sound like we really don't have a clue on how to incorporate Biblical principles into everyday life and its problems. Christians who have been persecuted throughout history should be the first to warn others of evil. Instead we act like it's no big deal to have the anti-Christ gov't spying on its citizens. Have we truly lost the culture war? It sounds to me like some have already surrendered without a fight. As for me, I'll continue to shine light on the darkness and sound the warning for those with ears to hear. In Lord Jesus Name. Amen.

Perhaps the men (heads of their households) should put their foot down and either look for another church or if their wife is dressing immodestly, tell her to put more clothes on. Sorry, but it seems to me that many of the charismatic churches have women running the show and men are treated as non-entities.

I think the Pentecostal movement has too much focus on feelings instead of God's Word and this might be why they tend to have problems with immorality, etc. At one time they were very strict about clothing (my mother and grandmother were Pentecostal)but from what I've seen they must have tossed those rules out and now there is a problem with "tongue speaking" women dressing immodestly. I belong to a Reformed Church and I haven't seen anyone showing cleavage. We're focused on Worship.

I agree with 1517's response... I just didn't have the courage to voice it.

Thanks MS - I agree and usually shop for clothes on-line after much searching for something stylish, modest and (hopefully) durable.
Street Preacher - I try to set a modest example for the younger women in church, without being condemning or legalistic.

You have to be practical in these matters... Many, like me, don't have a clue on how to make their own clothes, so we are left to the task of buying what's available.
Also, there is no sin in a woman dressing neatly - wearing sloppy, baggy and slovenly clothes isn't going to earn anyone extra brownie points with the Lord. MS is right - it's a heart issue. Be patient and gently teach others - especially new believers. In the meantime, men keep your eyes on your own wives or better yet, in the Word.

Christian women can still be fashionable and modest at the same time. I believe it was Melody Green (Keith Green's wife) who wrote an article on this and she recommended ladies review their attire in front a full length mirror to see if they might be unknowingly revealing a bit too much. Good advice, IMO.
PS - In answer to the question asked in the title of this article, I think for many ladies, they just haven't been taught that their appearance should be more modest. We need discipleship in this area from more mature Christian women. A truly mature Christian woman isn't going to dress inappropriately in church or at the market, for that matter.

I think they should just let the movement die with it's founder and expose themselves to some sound theology like what's featured here at SermonAudio.

In this day and age of watching the breakdown of the family and murder of the pre-born, it's good to see a husband and wife lovingly celebrating the birth of their first child - even if they are royalty! May the good Lord use this young prince for His glory. (He's done it before, folks!)

Dear Christopher, It must have taken much courage for you to confess your previous activities on this forum. I think John from the UK gave you good advice. Just remember that you are a new creation in Christ and that Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith. May the good Lord bless you. - Angela

Martin wrote: "It is important to keep in mind the distinction between the kingdom of God and the kingdoms of this world." Please provide your scriptural text for making this statement.
There is no distinction regarding Who rules. Christ is king! Frankly, I'm shocked at the Baptists and Roman Catholic church uniting. They can both be effective in fighting Obama-care through separate efforts. As Amos asked "Can two walk together unless they be agreed?"

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is an excellent sermon and truly speaks to today's Church, as well as teaching us about King Hezekiah, National Covenanting and what is true obedience to our God. May the good Lord continue to bless us with good, solid, sound preaching by Pastor Schwertley, and may he bless the Schwertley family for their faithfulness to His word.

A little history lesson... Barry wrote that most people routing for Snowden are just against Pres. Obama... I remember many of us (Christians who care about liberty) sounding the alarm when GW Bush forced through the PATRIOT Act that it would invade privacy and infringe on the rights of innocent citizens. Saying "I told you so" gives me no satisfaction. But let's be honest and not forget who shoved through that ungodly and unread bill. And for the Lord's sake, let's not defend the ghastly actions of impotent leaders.
