"What is the Ark Encounter?" "The Ark Encounter is a one-of-a-kind historically themed attraction. In an entertaining, educational, and immersive way, it presents a number of historical events centered on a full-size, all-wood Ark, which should become the largest timber-frame structure in the USA. Additional future phases for the attraction include a Walled City, the Tower of Babel, a first-century Middle Eastern village, a journey in history from Abraham to the parting of the Red Sea, a walk-through aviary, an expanded large petting zoo, and so on. It is designed to be family oriented, historically authentic, and environmentally friendly. We also plan for the Ark Encounter to eventually include daily live mammal and bird shows, an extensive interactive childrenâs area, live entertainment, and many themed restaurants, creative food outposts, and shopping. The Ark Encounter will be one of the largest âgreenâ construction projects in the country, taking advantage of the latest environmental technologies to be good stewards of creation."
Penned - lol! Yes, yes, but I tend to not be as eloquent as you. I believe I stated NOT that seeing (or insert whatever sense you want here) was believing but because of belief (imparted by the Holy Spirit just to be clear), we can enjoy the things our Lord and God MADE for us to enjoy! Why stop at reading about the tent of God when you can see it outside and worship Him in His infinitness? I don't NEED the stars, but He MADE them for a REASON. And it wasn't for the RCC... And lest we think I am talking about only the warm fuzzies: I just had a baby. Genesis and a curse seem to come to mind there. I don't live life on female sensory mode because you can't trust that. However, wouldn't we be denying the image of God if we so compartmentalize the way in a person can grow and mature in God as seeing Him only in a leather bound Writ? Does not nature proclaim Him, too?
Oh my goodness Neil. Utter nonsense and how "monk-ish" of you! So what a grand advantage blind people have over the rest of us then!? I am not talking about salvation, I am talking about reading about the greater and lesser lights from day four in Genesis and feeling the sun, growing plants, seeing constellations! Seeing what a lump of yeast will do to flour - and then eating the fresh hot loaf. Sitting in a concert hall and listening to an orchestra play Bach.
Your "reliance on the senses" as an "essence of Roman Catholic doctrine" is pure tripe. You mean to say the senses God gave us to see, touch, taste, hear, smell His creation are some RC contrived way to kill off saints? Hahaha! You give the RCC far too much credit and demote God's image bearers! Like everything else in life, sinner abuse these, but that doesn't make the senses bad in and of themselves. Wow. Again, how very monk-ish; interesting perspective though; wrong, but still interesting.
R-e-s-t... Hmmm... About eight years ago... That was before our first born! Lol! I am though - dear husband has taken next week off and so the energy of the others is absorbed with lots of wrestling and running around. The baby is BLESSEDLY calm and content, very easy to sleep and eat's well. We've been especially enjoying our 4-yr old daughters attention to the baby as her other brothers are finding out they are actually capable of basic human function without her directions! Hahaha!
I love having something tangible to set my eyes on. In no way is God's word not enough but there is something to be said about experiencing something with your senses. Ever smelled frankisese or spikenard? Ever touched a crown of thorns? Held a clay water jug like Rachel used to water the camels? They enhance what we already envision! Not to be worshipped, but to fill our minds yet again and in a different light with God's power.
That being said, $73 million for a tourist attraction... I personally would use the money for other purposes but cannot presume the individuals behind this are acting in an unChristian-like way.
Sorry to be so crass here, but if this was a pregnant dog and you kicked the mutt who then aborted all the pups, they would rain down fire and brimstone on your dark, cruel, evil heart. But, ya know, this is not a life, it's a choice... Ho-hum...
I'm with penned, these people are just sick. Life began before the foundations of the world, for time exists to God in that respect and He foreknew all who He has created.
I look at our new baby and rest knowing God already has his life under control and knew Gabe before he was a twinkle in our eye! All these women, what will they say should they meet the lives they utterly destroyed, without remorse, with their own hands one day?!
GSTexas made the comment on the Morman article that Satan hasn't had to even change tactics and the same can be said for this group. The RCC indeed has a history consistent with their persecution of these families. It will only worsen. Also goes to prove the Ecclesiastical verse "Nothing new under the sun".
Thank you everyone! Gabriel had a great nights sleep, as we all did. We appreciate all your well wishes, prayers and the hymn Observer - beautiful! The kids have loved to read them and see another group in the body of Christ. Hang in there SF - that baby will be here sooner than later!
As for the last half of this thread: "Like a madman who throws flaming darts and deadly arrows, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, 'I was only joking' "(Proverbs 26:18-19 HCSB). I love humor - but there is a difference between humor and deceptive "humor".
Oh my! So many beautiful opportunities to pray for God to be glorified in all of your lives!! I have a list which includes nearly everyone on this thread that are prayed for each day! Frank, I have been praying for you of late as I noticed you weren't posting - will continue to ask for God's guidance and strength. Penned, I'll be keeping you close in thought as well.
Now, SF, I would have written earlier, but,...
At 6:30 this evening we welcomed a beautiful and very big BABY BOY into our family! His brothers and sister are beside themselves with joy as are Dad and Mom. I cannot say thank you enough to all who have been praying - this pregnancy was dogged by much fear and Jesus shone mightily through the pain.
So, my dear over due sister SF, it is your turn! My family prayed for you right after we had our baby that you will soon see the face of the blessing God has given to you all!
Michael H and Dorcas - I will most certainly add them to our daily prayers. What painful refinement we go through to become more Christlike, or, to see Him more clearly! My hearts go out to you both as well - it is difficult to watch the hearts of those we hold dear to feel such pain.
Dorcas, my heart just sunk hearing about SF. I haven't stopped praying for her, baby, husband and kids. Indeed we serve a Sovereign Lord who is always right and just; it's something truly sweet to trust in. Thank you for the prayers for us, too. We have an appointment tomorrow with our midwife and I suspect we might have to help things along. Not the plan we wanted to go with, but God's leading!
Dorcas, we're praying for you and your husband while you're visitng the souls dear to your heart. God never rests, He can do anything and we are praying for their eyes to be opened! I know you know that, too!
What an insidious religion - death to the body and eternal death to the soul. God help them! But I thank Him for those He has so graciously delivered! You words are loving and sincere John UK!
1) "'Will I bring a baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?' says the Lord; 'or will I who deliver, close the womb?' says your God." (Isa 66:9)
2) "Do not murder." (Ex 20:13)
3) "In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to much wine. They are to teach what is good, so they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, homemakers, kind, and submissive to their husbands, so that Godâs message will not be slandered." (Titus 2:3-5)
4) "My anger will burn, and I will kill you with the sword; then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless." (Ex 22:24)
Who's oppressing who? "A leader who lacks understanding is very oppressive", but one who hates dishonest profit prolongs his life." (Prov 28:16). The sad thing is, this war was waged in greatest part by feminists bucking God's system - we've reached an "in your face" level of Socialism and absolutely zero moral compass bearings. (Dopey, these are all Holman Standard text so you don't have to hunt. )
Dorcas, I just shot her an email with the link. Her husband is right now very angry with her decision and she is struggling with his insistence that she continue to accompany him and take their children to services - including taking part in "communion". She continues to attend with him and the kids but refuses to take communion. She is in a difficult place right now. I feel all I can concretely offer her is prayer. I hope she will find some support from those who have traveled here before!
I will most assuredly be praying for you all!! May God open hose doors and just allow them to see who He is and may they be freed from the chains that ensnare them.
Thank you for the continued prayers for SF and I. Sooner than later I hope we can both "deliver" some good news!
Hi Dorcas! I was speaking with a neighbor who's just left the RCC and is sick over the family that is still plugged into the system. I was able to tell her about some of the things you have faced and how you've dealt with it and she was so blessed and encouraged! I pray you're doing well?
