“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” Romans 13:1-7 NKJV |

Doc, John, and QC, I agree that we can’t force “holidays or not” onto anyone. Every believer can take a day off as to the Lord, but if he doesn’t observe the day, he should also do it as to the Lord. The visible church today is definitely not where it should be, but it doesn’t mean that Jesus has gotten down from the throne. He is still on there reigning with power. I am joyful because of this. I am seeking to please Him with my life and to walk in His ways. The Lord has His people, even today, all over the world who are loyal to Him in love and obedience. They are imperfect, I know, but truly converted and following Christ. Bro John, you may be having the Elijah Syndrome. I’ve had it too before. Doc, you may be experiencing the Wild Texan Trapped Inside of Me Syndrome according to John’s Yee Haww diagnosis. I have had that too before. Finally, QC, I appreciate your gracious comments and your efforts to cross-culturally explain many truths and feelings. This is not easy to do as there are so many different starting places, so many |
