In retrospect however the facial contortion reminds one of St. Catherine of Sienna, except for the frown which was prevalent in manifestations of St. Matilda of Saxony. If the veil was pulled back more and we could see the hair color we could rule out St. Olga of Russia if she were not blonde. Then again it looks a lot like the Ghost of Christmas past which has been known to appear to Christmas revelers who have had too much eggnog. She also resembles Sister Mary Arcangel who beat me senseless in the 2nd grade in 1956 except that she has no yardstick in her hand. Then again it might just be an image of Darth Vader. Oh well, who needs Christ when we have so many apparitions to assure us. THE ABOVE IS SATIRE....so I don't want to hear from all you pickle-pusses who think it's a real comment !
Amen!! The devil masquerades as an angel of light.

And heres one for you, Jim. I enjoy and agree with many of your posts, but I think you are wrong in your views on the KJV. http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/mythofearly.htm

And I might add that indeed the Apocrypha was included in the 1611 KJV , but they were all placed where they should be between the Old and New Testaments, and were clearly labeled "APOCRYPHA" so the reader would know they were not inspired books. I don't wish to start a version debate in an inappopriate thread, but I felt I must reply to your comment.

Thanks for the post back. Happy New Year to you!
An important thought in regards to reading any human author is something a pastor in Knoxville TN shared with me years ago is what I will call the "Red Pen Principle". This pastor told me how he read all sorts of writers BUT he read with a red pen and would prayerfully compare what was written with the Bible and note points that were in agreement with Scripture and the context of Scripture and "red flag" ones that weren't.
My observation is that people who read Calvin, or Catholic authors, JW's, Charismatic Word Faith, Purpose Driven Seeker Sensitive, Ecumenical, Mystical Emergent Church, or any other writer without a gurarded prayerful and critical examination and a determined willingness to reject that which is false and hold to the Truth will ultimately be drawn into the thinking and reasonings of men and lead away from obedience to God and His Word buying into whatever system of theology they are seeking to find some good things in.
Hence the mess among SBC's
AMEN and AMEN!!

When the gospel comes it declares genuine good news to all. But the fact is that, apart from God, all would reject the gospel because we love sin.
God has chosen in His soveriegnty to allow the person to make a choice whether to believe and repent or not. God calls, God draws, God convicts, but the person still has to make a choice and God chooses to leave this entirely up to them. God has given EVERY MAN an opportunity or opportunities to believe the gospel.

GG you better read the book of Hebrews and read it well, for there is only ONE PERSON who is ordained a priest after the order of Melchisedec. And for anyone else to claim that they are ordained as such is outright BLASPHEMY, and so is any man who takes a spiritual title as "father".

Furthermore, Scripture is very clear that we have ONE intercessory Priest, and all born again believers are priests unto God, therefore we can go directly to Him.

RKB: Scripture and Sacred Tradition are equally important. Tradition is not superior to Scripture. And since they both come from the Holy Spirit, they complement each other.
If this is true, then tell me why the rcc still has an ordained priesthood, when Scriptures declare the intercessory priesthood as done away with?

Tradition does not come from the Holy Spirit because it CONTRADICTS the Scriptures.

I am not saying the Holy Spirit isn't a gift of God, I realize how important His ministry is, and to be sealed with Him keeps me. Christ is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit, John the Baptist says this in the Gospel of John. I feel there are too many 'Christians' puffed up with pride and arrogance, everyone seems to have it 'right'. I only know this; I am changing everyday from the inside out, and Christ has taken up residence in my heart. I think the simpler we keep the gospel, the more effective it is. Too much time is spent 'splitting hairs' when we should be reaching out to the lost, not arguing with the saved as to who 'has it right'.
I agree and I am very guilty as charged. I have said the same thing myself, but yet I find myself getting caught up in useless babble, when I should be concentrating on the lost. I pray that God will turn me away from this prideful, spirit.

Conclusion: Therefore, Predestination is heresy.
Fallacy - argumentum ad hominem (abusive). Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
Biblical equivalents: David murdered Uriah, yet wrote Psalms. Solomon was an idolator, yet wrote Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes. Caiphas prophesied truly (John 18:14).
And several pastors I've dealt with (Calvinists & not) turned out to be practical atheists in church gov't; should I therefore repudiate all they taught?
If a man believes that one is regnerated by baptism, bases his teachings off of a heretics teachings, and never gives any kind of testimony of being born again, then we shouldn't give his teachings a second thought(and I haven't BTW). Anyone who claims to be a Bible scholar will at the very least give a testimony of how they were born again, Calvin never did and referred to his roman catholic baptism!

If this were anybody but John Calvin, the Calvinists would be quick to call him a heretic!!

I've said it before(two or three times in this thread) but its worth repeating many times, Let the doctrines and theological systems of men alone.

I really would NOT recommended J.I. Packer as that sound seeing he is a signer of Evangelicals and Cathoics Together. You may not have been aware of this.
Amen!! But even more so, should we consider the teachings of a man who: who was a follower, and based his own theology on that of a roman catholic heretic, never gave a testimony of being born again, practiced and taught infant baptism/baptismal regeneration, and persecuted Christians for not submitting to his beliefs?

Are you Calvinists aware that I'm talking about John Calvin?

Peter professes in Matt. 16:16, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God'. It was this bold, strong profession by Peter that led to Christ saying, "Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father, who is in heaven." Because of his boldness to profess Christ, Jesus says 'You are Peter'[rock], with this same strength/boldness/fearlessness will the church be built through the likes of those who, like Peter, profess strongly Christ, and His redemptive work on the cross. This type of strength is the solid foundation which is built upon, as He adds to His church, the living stones, a.k.a. believers who are born again.
AMEN!!!

I did not say Christians are meant to be incapable of sinning. I said Christians are to strive to cease from sin.
Now this I can agree wholeheartedly with-Amen!! And if one who professes to be born again does not live their life in continual repentance and striving to put away sin, then they don't have the Spirit of God dwelling in them.

But to say that Christians are sinless after being born again is a false doctrine.

Now,-- God gives us the gift of His Spirit to enable us to live this kind of Christian life, in repentance and obedience, but it cannot be something that we do of ourselves, then it becomes works. If we do this then we are saying that God saved us, but its up to us to keep it by being obedient.

This is not what God's Word says, it is He who keeps us. If we could lose it,we would be lost all the time for we sin without even knowing we sin, we HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT SIN SINCE WE"VE BEEN BORN, AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO SIN UNTIL WE DIE.

Boy, we had better throw away our car keys if we can lose it. We better stay home, rather than go out and witness and have somebody cuss us for in that very next instant, we would be lost!!

Listen up,
Your exhortation is wise. The arguments from scripture have been numerous, and at this point, sound doctrine is being trampled under foot. Moreover, those who propose the false doctrine of sinless perfection fail to see the teaching of scripture in general and specifically Heb. 12. The question is if we are able to live sinless lives as believers, then what need does the writer of Hebrews have to warn the sons of God about God's chastisement. Furthermore, he uses the manifestation of God's chastening as evidence of the love of God to His sons:
"But if ye be without chastisement whereof all are partakers, then are ye (illegitimate children) and not sons." Heb. 12:8

I am not saying that Jesus isn't described often as the rock. But, Jesus never refered to himself as the rock. He was speaking to Peter, why would he mention himself as the rock, when he calls himself the builder. When Jesus refers to himself, he uses the title "Son of Man".
Jesus saith unto them, DID YE NEVER READ IN THE SCRIPTURES, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."(Matthew 21:42-44)

"Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock."

And I might add that the Old Testament is just as important as the New Testament, and the Lord calls Himself the Rock many times(Deut.32:4,15; 2Samuel 23:3; and also look at 1Corinthia 10:4)

Everybody knows who and what you're talking about when you refer to "ROME".

The whore of Babylon is a world religious system that is "that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth". What city reigned over the kings of the earth when John wrote? -- Rome

So after 2000yrs we have a satanic world religion located at Rome.

So like I said... what's your point?

The anglican church is so far into apostacy that it may as well be catholic, along with many other protestant denominations.

The Pentecostals that I know of teach the same thing you teach. No one has led me down a false road. I believe the Word of God.
You can find scriptures to defend sin if that is what you are looking for. People can make the Bible say anything they want it to say by reading between lines, finding examples, misappropriation, or misinterpretation. But believing what it states in black and white, people refuse to accept, because the gate is strait, the way narrow and few there be that find it. People do not want the discipline of holiness, therefore they make loopholes for themselves to their own loss.
In the love of Jesus Christ with prayers
Abigail
They also find scriptures to make loopholes for their false doctrines of works salvation, not to mention women pastors and unbiblical teachings about the Holy Spirit.

Abigail I won't comment further, I'm praying for you.
