This is a really heavy issue to put in a few words. But I believe that Salvation is a one time event, but repentance, obedience and sanctification are a life-long process that continues right unto the day we die or are taken up in the rapture. First we get saved, then we get sanctified. I think both eternal security and conditional security don't get it completely right. Works don't save us but without works our faith and repentance is not really completed. I know only one thing, if we lose our salvation when we sin after we have gotten saved I must have lost mine long ago! God be merciful to me a sinner!
I admire your fervour for Christ and His gospel and I agree that the present churches have badly neglected holiness in the believers lives. But we have to be careful not to fall under another man-made bondage of salvation by works which is very dangerous and deceptive as well. Yes God wants us to be holy as He is and yes we (me included) have lacked the passion for godly living but even if we should succeed in attaing a blameless standard of living it will only be so by the grace of God alone and not by our own power. It is God's love and goodness that leads us to repentance and I am so grateful for God patience with all of us. He is not willing that any precious soul should perish. I pray that we will come to love the Lord so much, that we cannot help but obey his perfect will for our lives.
How very sad to see the western world return to indulgences that cannot help anybody but are nothing but a money-making machine to stock the already overflowing vaults of the roman harlot. The church of Rome is regaining her dominant position all over the western world and is so fulfilling the ancient divine prophecies concerning the great mystery Babylon, the great whore and mother of all whores. Oh come quickly Lord Jesus!!
You're right Jim. Once you have been baptised into the Roman Catholic religion you are considered a member for life (or eternity.) When I finally left the roman church I had to inform my parish priest where I had been baptised so they could "annull" my baptism. Since the church of Rome believes in baptismal regeneration it is absolutely vital to be baptised. Now I also received believers baptism by complete immersion after my conversion to Christ, but I don't believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, but of course there are many things which might not be necessary for salvation but are still the right thing to do for a true Christian.

I have seen teletubbies once and I must admit I have seen much worse when it comes to kids tv but I agree that tv is generally a waste of time and does not edify either kids or adults in their walk with God. I once heard that the brain is even less active when watching tv than during sleep ( I am NOT kidding.)

Nowadays most church services in Swiss Reformed churches are held in the local dialect of the people. But even though there is a translation of the Bible in the Alemannic Swiss dialect, almost everybody prefers to use translations in high-german. The local dialect would sound kind of disrespectful to be used in the reading of scripture. That's why I am a staunch supporter of the old german Luther bible and the KJV in English. The common language of our day (german or any other language) just is too corrupted to be used in the service of a Holy God.
Just another example how dangerous most modern versions are in changing the meaning of the Words of God. The modern bibles seem to pave the way for the anti-christ. And this is true not only for the English language. The same corruption of the Word and Words of God go on in most European languages as well. No wonder the churches are getting weaker and weaker in doctrine with these milky sweet watered-down paraphrases.

I am pretty surprised that Jack Hyles or Bob Jones ever fellowshipped with Pentecostals since their bible colleges are rather antagonistic to us these days. Unfortunately many good evangelical Christians think that all Pentecostals go along with the like of Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch and others who have made a lot of money with the abuse of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But there are still true "Brush-Arbor" Pentecostals around who love the King-James-Bible who believe in separation and do not abuse the gifts of the Holy Spirit for their own profit. They are few and far between but they are still around. One example is www.pawcreekministries.org which is pentecostal, uses the King James and opposes ecumenism, roman catholicism and the apostate charismatic and new-evangelical movements. The true Bible-believing Christians should start building each other up instead of tearing each other down even if we do not agree on every minor point of doctrine. We need to encourage one another in this day of apostasy to resist the pressures of ecumenism, false doctrines and romanism.
I feel the same as RV. Even as a lost Roman Catholic I never believed in evolution. From a child I had no doubt that there was a God and that our life had a deeper meaning. I think I would have committed suicide long ago if I had ever believed this evolution propaganda. Talk about a hopeless and meaningless philosophy.
Please remember that there are genuine Christians in the new-evangelical movement. I was one of them until the Lord led me away from it. Isn't it scary to see how easily even believers can be deceived. Let us hold on to God's Word (Yes KJV as far as English is concerned) and exhort one another daily as we see the apostasy spreading so we will not be swept away with it as well. Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall...
I agree with Jim that we have to present the gospel in a decent manner and respectfully, but I also believe that there is a time for shouting the truth. So I guess we have to be sensitive to the guidance of God when preaching the gospel publickly. Jesus did not strive or cry, but I am sure he wasn't whispering when confronting the religious elite of His day. Ye serpents..., ye liars..., ye hypocrites...how shall you escape the damnation of hell?(!!!)

I agree with Abigail. Even though no man knows the day of the hour we are to watch the signs of the times. How could anyone miss the fast forwarding globalization and the ecumenical coming-together of all man-made religions? The signs of the times seem to be very obvious to me. It is true though that every generation of Christians were expecting the return of Christ. So what? Have checked out the websites of biblebasedministries and iconbusters. biblebasedministries seems to be a very sound but hyper-calvinist site with absolutely nothing good to say about any pentecostals. Iconbusters is very outspoken in their attack on romanism but are rather sarcastic and cynical in their presentation. Rand Windburn was banned from a puritan webring and has a blog showing a lot of immodestly clad women and he is also a ccm singer (contemporary "christian" music.) I know I sound pharisaical, but since these people are so critical about A. Rivera and other Christians who do not believe exactly as they do, I guess its justified to judgem them with the same judgement that they used.

When I think what kind of lost depraved people are bashing Dr. Alberto Rivera's testimony even 10 years after his death I am quite comfortable not to be on their side. Of course I am not talking about R. Bennett or Iconbusters which I consider good valid ministries, but I think some evangelical ministries just can't stand people who are as controversial as A. Rivera and rather take the lost world's side than to side with a true prophet of God. Woe unto you if all men speak well of you...
Yes I have heard a lot of slander against Alberto Rivera. They say you can tell a man by his enemies. Alberto Rivera has been so enormously attacked by the church of Rome that he must be true. Why would the church of Rome and many liberal protestants for that matter go to such lengths to destroy the reputation of a man if he was just a fake? I know only one website who is in favour of Rivera. Most others trash him and they all bring the same old stories up against him. Might they just have copied one another's lies? By the way iconbusters is not a website either that many 'evangelical ministries' would endorse. Too controversial and conspiratorial.

Yes I know that brother Rivera passed away in 1997. His wife nury rivera claims he was poisoned by the Jesuits. You can hear about that on the www.spirituallysmart.com website under audios where you can find a radio interview with nury rivera as well as a very interesting interview with a former roman-catholic bishop who also testifies to the veracity of Alberto Rivera's claims.

Ulster may be the last bastion of Bible-Christianity in this terrible day of compromise. I don't know one single church in Switzerland that still takes a clear bold stand against the false church of Rome and all her terrible heresies. In fact almost all churches I know are banding more and more together with Rome and the mostly apostate Swiss-Reformed State church. God have mercy on Europe, the awful reign of the beast seems to come nearer every day.
Now the Christians are discriminated against and many of them do not even know about that yet! Believers had better leave any church that does not take a stand against gay marriage or they might receive of their plagues.
