ah no ! tho i can see the cause of concern. its all in context i always use the same system nad having gone thru the law the sinner sees his hopeless position with regard to the law and coming judgement and jesus saying that it is easier to create a new heaven and earth than do away with one jot or tittle of the Law so having explained the atonement which is only accesible to those who realise the need of it then election does often arise and i explain its purpose in terms of assurance

ive been meditating on election and evangelism on the drive from murkeyside. the unsaved persons response to the doctrine of election is one of the most interesting features of witnessing for me. i cant articulate this very well as its such a deep thing but to me i get a small insight as much as my mean understanding can afford of Gods profound wisdom in the plan of salvation. election is profoundly evangelistic in my limited experience.
the response is always positive never apathetic. usualy if ive got that far its a question of the individual am i part of the election or can i be part of the election ? they see that it is consistent with the aforementioned creation sovreignty and judgement. to which i reply that our God is a God who keeps his promises regardless of his peolpe i briefly mention israel in judges and Gods fulfilment of his promises there despite their falling away and tell them that Jesus promised that he would never turn any man away and the fact that they have become concerned about being part of the election is a sure sign a certain indicia of being called that number whom 'no man comes to rthe father except by me and none come to me except the father call them. we cant tell who are the elect of course but there are signs IMHO

if you do it biblically then the whole thing aqures a momentum of its own because the holy spirit is guiding things - im talking 1 to 1 here. its vital to bring the law in as soon as you can that causes the man to consider his conscience rather than the intellect which is where the red herrings live. remeber we have gods word that he has put three things into all mens hearts 1. the law 2. a conscience 3. the knowlege of god so the object of the excercise is to bring these to the fore let the man do the work himself. ' the law is a schoolmaster to bring us to God' '

also 'the law stops the mouth ' it does ive seen it happen plus when you start on this basis the rest of it falls into place naturally they start asking the right questions they certainly do know what to ask like i say doing it this wat gets straight to the point and avoids long discusions about situational ethics, evolution etc you stillhave to know about these things and its great fun talking about them and its a good way to get things rolling but time is often limited and the first objective is to take them gently thru the law so the consience and the holy spirit can do its work - they are the tools which seldom fail ! in fact when i didnt do it this way i always regretted it.

of course you are right John but perhaps you missed some of my text?

''my point being that for me its important to talk about election but i only do it after talking about creation and judgement and sovreign grace''

In other words i have set the context the background for the discussion and in my experience which is i know limited compared to most on here but i have to say that i have been suprised at how readily the lost see this, also election often comes up sooner than you would think because people ask questions like 'what about the people who have never heard the gospel?' election is not a difficult concept for the lost to grasp in my experience in fact it makes a lot of sense to them but remember - in context-
creation, the law, sovreignty

i always remember this, my job is to deliver a messaqge, not to convert, not my department - get the message out, amswer questions im not in charge god is in charge of the discussion i keep it on track and biblical and i have been humbled on occasion by the way god has caused some people to listen to the whole gospel (takes about 45 mins ) whom i would never have thought even people i was a bit frightened of and also how quickly they grasped certain concepts, including election which causes so many believers proiblems

'so, how do you present this gospel of election to a lost sinner'

a good question which id be interested to hear how other people do this.

this is my way, i often start with an assumption which my companion has voiced which he expects me to agree with often its something to do with origins, or a conventional way of vviewing an issue which is at odds with the bible an example might be 'millions of years ago' or a dispute in the news, i might say the bible says ... anyway i start briefly with creation or a sovreignty issue then move on as quickly as possible to the law, gently establishing the sinners guilt, ive introduced the idea of sovreignty here, usualy i dont get that far they arent interested but if i do then i talk about God restraining men from the full willfulness of their desires, lots of people seem to recognise this (if ive got that far) then usualy people are asking questions and i introduce election in the light of Gods right to show mercy upon whom he will and talk about pharoh, my point being that for me its important to talk about election but i only do it after talking about creation and judgement and sovreign grace, i dont think its in context and therefore helpful to mention it before those things so if i dont get that far then i dont mention it

its always difficult to assess persecution for instance if someone had no chice in the matter ie either to back down and deny Jesus or to proclaim and be punished is that the same degree as another who was not uder the same obligation but did just the same anyway ? I suspect not tho its still persecution nonetheless. These recent events are as i see it opening shots. the stage seems set here for much wider and severe rejection of the gospel and this nation tho i see it under judgement in my lifetime is not experiencing it to a degree seen elsewhere so it seems there is plenty of room for more. Who can tell ? history is full of suprises.
If the present direction continues then a 'sifting of the church' will happen and God may use that portion. My hope is that i will 'be counted worthy to escape the wrath to come'
I draw parralells with israels judgement before exile to babylon. The treasure and artisans are taken and the the men of war, the nation is ruled by a foreign king. Here in the uk the trend is for a loss of sovreignty in econimics, law, and rule. If some of my main customers ask me as a subcontracter to sign up to anti gospel legislation which they could do then i will lose my business which took me 15 yrs to build but there will be no compensation like for a policeman

yes you can assume that i am of the true church my doctrine is reformed and i take the Bible literally and at face value. i am self employed so i do what i want and say what i want. all my customers know my position if i havent told them direct i have links to creation and reformed sermon websites on all my business and private emails my family are now believers i talk about the gospel to one new person every week sometimes thru my work sometimes socialy. i have good teaching in my church no false teachers. last week i gave a public talk on Jesus and genetics. i do these things without overt persecution - would it be better if i did ? maybe but i dont think so. anyway these things are nothing i dont take any pride in them im only telling you as you ask. perhaps in your estimation im a brave man but you would be wrong i do what i can, im a relatively new believer of two years so im building up strength and knowlege
its not about what i want is it ? i am a pre trib man so i wopuld like to do something before Jesus 'blows the whistle' let me tell you that a self employed man has no one to take his side if there is a problem unlike policemen etc and i take a risk every time i talk about the gospel specially at this time. Everything God does is good including the so called 'bad 'thin

yes i think God is sifting the churches now for the purposes of using the ones that remain who will speak boldly when the time comes, he does not want the true church to be confused in peoples minds with the false church. at the moment most people dont know what a christian because of the lies of church leaders so maybe he wants the remnant church to be distinct and recognisable. I believe that we are entering a period when God will test the universal church in order to extract the true church and make it prominent

barak hussein obama already said how he is going to desert israel in the election cmapaign when he said he 'wanted to end americas dependence on foreign oil from the middle east' this old canard is untrue, america is not dependent on mid east oil its easy to google where it comes from canada is the main supplier, its not to say that mid east oil is unimportant of course . just the fact he said that would have been noticed by mid east players. the signal from americas new president is dont take american intervention to secure oil supplies for granted, that removes a temporal motivation for the defence of israel.
as far as an orthodox muslim is concerned obama is a muslim, he has muslim dad went to a religeous muslim school for six years, in islam you cant apoatasise i dont know how that would affect the dealing of mid east leaders with the new president but it seems to me it might be an important factor

I appreciate your sentiments heskyden but but i think a little context is needed, if a prophet said that we in britain were going to be taken into slavery, our cities taken, our names to be a hissing amongst the nations then be assured i would be interceeding fervently - but we are a wealthy and arrogant nation which has turned its back on God 'calling evil good and good evil' our churches are apostate we have rejected the things of God which made us great. Beleievers live in an atmosphere of daily offence to our God - There is no prophet warning us but the word in the bible which is ridiculed and mocked. So the nation is under judgement has been for years but it would need to get much worse before circumstances might cause people to take stock of the situation which is why I am happy for God to arrange things if that is what he is doing. It would be merciful of Him to well and truly humble this nation.

For example: currently there are elect souls drifting through life who don't understand why they don't fit in with this world, yet they are still living in sin and unbelief. How will they find their way home except someone tells them?

amen to that john, perfectly put brother

i use these people they seem to be very good

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CD%2FDVD+Drives/External/?p=cF9zdHlsZT1saXN0JnBfcHJvZHVjdHNQZXJQYWdlPSY=

here is the link to a lightscribe 30 pound so about half an hour work for you as you paint the portrait of a wealthy client ! bill all pc stuff to the business - i do

i use the free lightscribe seems to be ok you need to buy the lightscribe dvd tho not an ordinary dvd

yeah its quite hard to get the church interested in creation havent worked out why yet, main thing is to plug a way, if what i am doing good and useful it will be noticed and used so im not concerned many people are cautios about creationism being discussed because they dont take the bible literally themselves and are worried that hey, it all might be, well you know - actualy literally true i mean all of it not just the bits im comfortable with ! (arminans)
some dont like it because its 'divisive' (arminians)
some people really like creation because its means the rest of the bible can be read literally and taken at face value (calvinists)

some people arent so sure becasue some creationists are nutters and they dont want thenm coming into the church and spreading havoc - fair enough -

thx john, you need to buy a lightscribe dvd player, i fitted mine to the pc just the same as a dvd drive but you will need to get an external drive for your laptop. you can download the software from the interweb and you can edit what is to be scribed it takes a while to do as does copying a dvd but its ok if you are doing something else at the same time. its best to keep the finished item in one of those plastic envelopes as they scrath very easily esp if you keep them in the car as i do
for the likes of kent hovind ive noticed atheists scoff but if no body is watching they will watch every minute of a 120 minute dvd it does not change their mind of course but its tremendously encouraging for the saints.
having done my Jesus and genetics talk my next one is to be 2. The genesis flood and early man 3. Jesus in the old testament and 4 biblical archaeolgy in which i will seek to establish the biblical timeline for the world
in this way i will have four talks which deal with the main issues so even if i were to be asked to do a day then i could do 2 in the morning and two in the pm or just one talk but those are the subjects which id stick with the saints need to be encouraged in these days of unrelenting onslaught agains biblical truth

john i saw your post re dr masters sermons, you can down load these to your pc if you like and copy them onto cd also what i do is make copys of creationist dvd 's such as kent hovind, the one i use most is 'the age of the earth' this is the first in a seris of 8. these i leave on ships DVD library or give to people sometimes i leave them in science mags if i see one around, also i leave gospel creation tracts from living waters in mags at supermarkets etc i started with 'new scientist' which is very pro evolution at a supermarket i frequent but they stopped stocking ns - maybe all the atheists complained ! so i ;eave them in any magazine now, im quite pleased the supermarket doent sell ns any more also i leave tracts when im shopping in the food stalls great fun, but mind the cctv cameras in case someone complained not that there is anything wrong of course but it would be embarassing to be questioned the kent hovind dvd's are free to download and he wants people to copy them - believe God will cause the elect to look at them and most people like a dvd i got a lightscribe dvd player which laser scribes the title onto the dvd looks good more inviting - dologellau isnt so far from me i might one day come and join you street preaching and see how its done
