I have a quick question, and as usual I'm not trying to be an antagonist. If we are pro-second amendment and guns are good, then why not allow TSA agents to be armed. I've heard it said over and over that we need to remove the no gun rules from schools and allow teachers and administrators to be armed. Why not allow more guns in airports, just give the TSA agents more training and allow them to pack weapons.

'National Breastmilk', I love that Mike, if you don't mind I might use that in the future...

I'm all for spending money on the infrastructure of this country. Goodness knows we've spent enough in Iraq and Afghanistan. It should be well thought out and effective and not a reward for influencing some senator or rep. for voting a certain way. I thought vote buying was illegal.

I have a few more Jim, term limits and limits on lobbyist would be at the top of the list. Special interest is one of the major problems in our government. My own senator, Mitch McConnell got a major road project in return for his promise to vote to re-open the government.

The story is too long to tell how he became a preacher at the Methodist Church. He moved away and started a Christian School with a church that he preached at.
Thank you Dolores L. I went to their website and it seems okay. How can you preach from a bible that you think could have errors?

This is a good point to ask a question I am curious about.
Dolores L from Texas, why is the United Methodist Church so bad? I have heard Jim Lincoln and others say the same thing but they never elaborate. I'm not trying to be funny or anything, just don't really know anything about their theology. If anyone can elaborate I would appreciate it, their website doesn't reveal much that's bad, not that I have clicked on every link.

There is a prevailing belief in America that all low income people that are getting subsistence from the government is robbing everyone blind. They are all lazy and are only looking for a hand-out. This of course is not true. I'm sure there are selfish, greedy people, but you will come upon them from all walks of life. All economic classes!

I have many Christian Friends, and most enjoy a beer from time to time. It's not a sin as long as you don't go overboard. I think it's just as big a sin to sit at a dinner table and over-indulge. There is no difference.

And about going into a filthy bar, if you eat at O'Charlies or Applebee's these are bars as well!!! Again, no difference.

The main problem with this sort of thing has nothing to do with shaking the faith of those who know Jesus. Those who know him will not be convinced by anyone that he doesn't exist, regardless of their credentials on lack thereof.
The problem is that this kind of psuedo scholarship gives another "reason" for mockers and scoffers to remain in their self-delusion.
Well tb, that's it in a nutshell. I have a very good friend where I work. He is a determined atheist. We constantly argue and talk and we have done this for the last 20 years. I am still a disciple of Christ and he is still a determined atheist. My question is, did God not grant this friend of mind the gift of faith? Did he harden his heart towards anything and everything about the risen Savior? there are incidents in the bible where God has done this. I would love to hear the opinions of my brothers and sisters here on SA.

Dieting is really stupid. It is nothing but vanity to be concerned about how much one weighs as well as being a total waste of time.
I disagree with your statement John, there are obese people (me included) that fight high blood pressure, it can cause heart attacks and strokes and being over weight is hard on your back and other joints. I'm not vain and I struggle with weight issues. I don't believe taking care of the earthly vessel my Father gave me is a sin.

Christian is a biblical term, good verses, all of them. All I'm saying is Jesus never used the term Christian, He always refered to his followers as disciples!
John Y, there is no such thing as a christian wicca. I didn't make the term up but someone did, they don't exist any more than a gay christian!

I agree with you Christopher, Jesus never used the word 'Christian'. He refered to those of us that follow his teachings as 'disciples'.
I don't usually jump in on discussions like this, but with the growing community of people calling themselves 'gay christian' or 'christian wicca' it really bothers me I guess. Sorry John Y, you seem upset by this post. What is upsetting to you?

I think i prefer the term disciple. It's good enough for my Savior!!!

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Not trying to barge in on your discussion Mike and Jim..

The day of Pentecost, Peter seems to be saying that the Holy Spirit comes upon you after your conversion.

What do you make of this???

Nice sentiment at the WWII memorial. I'm sort of a patriotic person. I've had members of my family serve in every war since WWI. There was a democrat or 2 there as well Mike.
I went to work today and found it interesting that we were still making shipments of the best forged crankshafts made in this hemisphere!!! Even though our government was shut down, I'm sure I will still be taxed!
I don't care about the Affordable Care Act. Nor do I care about paying taxes, it goes on everywhere. When our government can't reach a compromise and refuse to talk with one another, then it's broke and needs fixing. It's both sides, not just one.
I vote for a mix of republicans, democrats and a few independents. I know there are those on here that think one is better than another, I believe they all have one thing in mind as soon as they get in office, how can I get re-elected. They are all scoundrels!!!

My wife and I have been foster parents for 7 years now. We have hosted many children over the past and we try to show them how we live. If we wanted them to live the way they were used to then why remove them from their parents in the first place.
We pray before every meal, we attend church. We show them our values and as long as they are with us they live up to our expectations and our values.
We got a couple of little boys that the parents were pagan's. I'm not really sure what that is, but I told the social workers we attend a Christian church and I would not be able to attend a pagan service. We got the boys and went to church. I would refuse this nonsense and would not allow it into our home!!!

Nobody, I thank your father for his service to our country. I still value that service. Chris, I think it's a fallacy to say that all people that recieve food stamps and government help are lazy. I belong to a group in Kentucy that helps those with intellectual and developmental disablilities. They are unable to work full-time and they depend on these government food programs.

I agree there is abuse and waste in these programs, I'm not sure the people in the above population could subsist on food pantry food alone. I will even agree there is too much spending in government period. Corporate welfare, defense contractors, I'm sure we could go on and on!!! But to say all people on government assistance is lazy is not factual.

Anne, your comment has been a real blessing to me! God sends his helps in all kinds of ways i guess. Thank you for your blessing!!! Our family is somewhat dynamic as it changes if not from week to week then month to month. We are foster parents and we usually have several kids in tow. these are mostly children that have never been in church and have no clue as to how to behave in or outside of church. that is where my wife and I come in. we have to instruct in the ways. it's usually effective however, sometimes we do become a distraction. I'm sure there are a handful of brothers and sisters that think we would be better off at home watching on services somewhere on TV. but the majority find our children as we do, a true blessing! thank you again for your comment. You are awesome!!!

That is so true Mike, the school wouldn't need so much money, and the days would be a lot shorter!!

Matthew 6:
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

I just wonder how effective her prayer was in the first place. There is no more powerful weapon that a Christian has than prayer. We should follow our Lords example!!!

...lesson? We wonder why rape is on the rise; why women being beaten and assaulted has become so that isn't publically shamed? We women have some culpability in this, too. The fact that is family was more concerned with the pastor not officiating than wondering about the dress proves it.
Anne, i don't find you so long winded. You are spot on with your comment. I work with Christians every day in the plant i work at, they constantly talk sports, hunting, fishing. They know all the new songs out. they make fun of me because i couldn't name on song that is on the charts today. I simply don't listen. Probably 70% of my coworkers attend church in the area. Baptist churches, methodist churches, christian churches. They are all fully involved in todays culture. There is no shame in things like this. Don't know where it all leads, not sure i want to go there!
