What does it mean to belong to the church of God and what are the privileges and responsibilities involved in membership of a local church? Don Fortner sets out the importance and the essential elements of public worship. He examines the qualities required in the pastor, elders and deacons, the nature of their work and the way in which the church should support them in that work. He then proceeds to show from Scripture why every true Christian should be a member of a local church and what this involves. Special consideration is given to the place of baptism and the Lord's Supper in the life and worship of the church and to the financial support of the work of the gospel, both at home and abroad.
