The title of this recording describes it—impromptu—on the spur of the moment. These extemporaneous compositions are not arranged and do not represent multiple takes or edits. As such, they are not perfect, neither do they pose as great art. Were it not for many people who have requested such a recording, particularly at a time when hymns are being forgotten, they would not have been shared. After all, the concept of recording improvisations contradicts the very nature of their spontaneity. However, the God of Whom these hymns testify does not change. His mercy, love, and truth are everlasting (Psalm 100). These are the musings of a pianist reaching back to the hymns of his childhood as well as the present, including some of his own tunes. Reflecting on the truths of Scripture evident in these hymns, may these meditative moments afford you the opportunity to contemplate the grace of God in your own life.
