In the year 1620, how could 120 pilgrims safely sail to the New World? The answer lay in the belly of the Mayflower. In its hold there was a room full of oak barrels that had been filled with drinking water, then refilled with sea water. The weight of these barrels provided the ballast that was essential for stability in the stormy waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
What do we need as we set out on the unchartered seas of the new year? It is certain that for most, if not all of us, the coming year will hold some period of turbulent seas. Therefore, we must understand and embrace certain fundamental truths in the Word of God which will function like ballast for the soul.
Thus, on December 31, 2000, Pastor Albert N. Martin introduced a brief series of expositions for the new year. Now these enlightening and powerful messages are being offered by Trinity Pulpit in a convenient five-cassette album. Our Lord Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation." Likewise, the Apostle Paul told young believers in Acts 14:22, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God." Therefore, before you "sail through stormy seas," we encourage you to give these messages your prayerful attention. Here is ballast for your soul.
