On Wednesday February 27, 2014, the news media broke with the announcement that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed proposed Senate Bill 1062. Immediately, Christians began a tidal wave of criticism on social media and the blogosphere. Most of the postings had a tone of “the sky is falling” rather than considering what is really at stake.
What is the main duty and command of every true Bible believing Christian when it comes to theunsaved? The answer is found clearly in Scripture: share the gospel of Jesus Christ. This article is addressed to all Christian businesses; but is written specifically to those in Arizona.
At what point does participation become approval of a sin against God? The Bible makes it clear to not undertake a Spiritual partnership with the ungodly. A pastor performing a wedding or a church renting out their fellowship hall would fall in line with such.
Would you as a business stop buying from a supplier that is an avid LGBT supporter? The entire issue is not such an easy black-and-white, yes-or-no question. Each individual business faces a unique perspective in regards to this.
But consider this: you, as a Christian business, have a great opportunity to be sharing the complete gospel of Jesus Christ, especially if you currently are in Arizona. People that support the LGBT agenda will be flocking to your places of business to make a point after this veto. Why not use this situation for God's glory?
Although the ruling by Arizona leaves Christian businesses having to decide whether to close, capitulate to the social demands of society or consciously disobey the edicts imposed on them, remember, it’s still legal for you to share your faith!
While it may be something others intend for evil, you ought to use it for something good. Show them true Christian love by sharing the gospel with these lost and dying souls. You can print and add the gospel to any of your brochures, signage or any other form of printed material your business uses. When customers come in to talk with you, share the gospel or have a stack of tracts. Maybe someone you would not expect will take one and read it! There are many ways you can take advantage of this opportunity to get the only true hope they will ever have in front of them. Then pray that God may open their hearts to hear.
