Praise the Lord. On Saturday, May 28th, 2011, at a worship service, held in Smithton FC, Inverness, the Rev John Ferguson was Ordained and Inducted to the Gospel ministry of Word and Sacraments. John's father, Rev Dr Sinclair Ferguson preached, ‚ÄúDifficult Times and Glorious Privileges‚ÄĚ, from 2Timothy 3:1-17 - a powerful, instructive, challenging and encouraging message. Then John was Ordained and Inducted to the pastoral charge of the Kingsview church family. A reception was arranged, and held at Kingsview Christian Centre, where the congregation meets for worship. The day was wonderful, and is now the substance of cherished memories. The ladies, and all involved in organising the catering etc are to be commended for their attention to detail, and the invaluable contribution they made to such a happy day. One of the amazing details is that the new minister, John Ferguson was inducted to have his first Sunday as minister, exactly one year from the last Sunday of the previous minister. On Sunday morning, 29th May, the new minister, Rev John took his first service as minister, and had a Guest Preacher ! His father Dr Sinclair Ferguson, whom he also interviewed. All present were served a most appropriate message about the 'Heart of the Matter (the Gospel)'. It was an experience not to be missed, a rich provision of God's grace. Rev John is to preach at the evening service, and we all in the church family, as also friends around, far and near, pray for this new ministry. A touching little 'aside' - John and his Dad stood at the door as the congregation left the building. One of the church members asked John, "John is it true to say - Like father, like son? - to which John replied, "I hope so". God alone makes a preacher, but what better testimony could you find of what a young preacher aspires to, as he witnesses his father's understanding of spiritual truths. May the Lord bless to each and all the things we have seen and heard.
