Not long ago I was sitting in the study of a pastor friend of mine when I heard someone calling my daughter's name. I kept hearing a little voice hollering, "Hannah ... Hannah." After hearing this a few more times, I finally looked up and there was a small boy standing at the door calling to me, "Hannah ... Hannah." He didn't know my name, but he knew that I was Hannah's dad; so he was trying to get my attention by calling her name. I dropped what I was doing and entertained the little fellow.
If you want to get the heavenly Father's attention, the best way to do so is by calling on Him in the name of His Son. That "Name which is above every Name" is music to the Father's ear, and all who call upon Him in that Name will get His attention. The Father dearly loves the Son and "He that loveth the Son will be loved of the Father" (John 14:21). The Father always hears the Son and will always hear those who call upon Him in the Name of the Son (John 16:23; I John 5:14). "God is Spirit.""No man hath seen God at any time." We don't know much about God, but we do know the Son. The Son of God has been seen... looked upon ... handled." ". . The only begotten Son, He hath declared Him," and we can be confident of having an audience with the Father and being received by the Father because of our relationship with the Son. - Pastor Paul Mahan
Am I of The World?
It is vital that we should ask ourselves the question: am I of the world or am I not? There are only two groups of people in the world today. Those who are of the world and those who belong to Christ. In the last analysis there is no other division or distinction that has the slightest importance or relevance. We recognize other distinctions that are quite unimportant. But when we all come to die, does it make the slightest difference as to which political party we belong to? Does it matter whether we are rich or poor, learned or other- wise? Does it matter what our social status is? It is all utterly irrelevant, it does not matter. As the old English proverb says, ‘Death is the grand leveler‘. The Christian is one who has been separated from the world. ‘Ah!’ says someone, ‘There you are, you Christians, putting yourselves into a separate compartment and category.’ That is quite right. I do not resent that charge at all. I deliberately assert that I am not of the world, I am not in the same category as those who belong to it and I thank God for that. It is not something to be ashamed of but something to glory in. What a tragedy it is that Christian people seem to be ashamed of this and are ever trying to conform to the world. Scripture is full of this doctrine. ‘Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind’ (Rom. 12:2) James says the same thing: ‘Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the World is the enemy of God’ (James 4:4). Could anything be plainer or clearer than that? Then let me remind you of those forcible Words in l John 2:15-17: ‘Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the other is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. - Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones
