My wife and I are sitting here in Minnesota with our daughter and our 7th grandchild (my son-in-law is at work). As I listen to our granddaughter cry (smile), you see she's hungry, I am over come with amazement of our holy and righteous God. Just to think that everyone of us started as the tiniest of human beings and yet developed into complete people. I used the phrase "tiniest of human begins" because I believe with ALL my being that life starts at conception and not at birth. Psalm 139:15 states it this way, "My substance" (body) "was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curisouly wrought in the lowest parts of the earth." vs. 16 goes on, "Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect" (not formed) "; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."
This brings me back to the birth of our first child. When he was born I had not trusted Christ as my personal Saviour yet. God used his birth to "ring my phone number." It was then, as it is now and everytime one of our grandbagies came on the scene, that I realized there is more to this life than what meets the eye. It was then I realized that there is One Who must be behind it all.
My friend, let me assure you that the One Who is behind it all is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." Look at verse 14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Now follow this verse with verse 17, "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."
How is this grace and truth displayed to the world today? It is through Christ's death (in the shedding of His blood), His burial, and His resurrection (the proof that God was satisfied with His sacrifice). You see there had to be a sacrifice because there is a problem - SIN, your sin and mine. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" and Romans 6:23a says, "The wages of sin is death..." However, Romans 5:8,9 says, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified (declared righteous) by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." Listen to Romans 6:23b, "...but the GIFT of God is eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our Lord."
So what do we need to do in order to go to Heaven? NOTHING but to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as payment for your sin. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS! Ephesians 2:8,9, "For by grace are ye saved through FAITH, and that NOT of yourselves; it is the GIFT of God: NOT of works lest any man should boast."
