"Be Great, Serve" is our theme as a church for 2014. We thank God for a local church that is service oriented. MZBC strives first to serve our Lord, Savior, and King Jesus Christ in all that we do. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. - John 12:26
One of the chief characteristics of a child of God is that they follow the example of Jesus Christ in serving. Christ served all mankind when He shed His blood for the sins of every man. Christ served His Father perfectly. Christ served his disciples. Christ served and God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: - Philippians 2:9

Secondly, we seek to serve one another. by love serve one another. - Galatians 5:13 What a joy it is to serve each other as a church. Nothing creates the Biblical spirit of unity like Christians right with God serving one another.

Thirdly, we seek to serve those around us that are without Christ. MZBC believes in old fashioned soul winning. We believe that without genuine repentance from sin there is no salvation. We are not looking to give people a Band-aid or have them repeat a religious prayer. We desire fruit that remains. Shame on those that would make a man a two-fold child of the Devil by getting them to casually acknowledge Jesus. When a life is touched by Christ, when a heart is changed, when one becomes a child of God, there is change! Operations Saturation continues to generate Sunday visitors and our people are bringing their unsaved friends with them to Church. We believe in being busy about the Father's business. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. - John 9:4

Are you serving through your church? Are you following the example of Christ? Unfortunately, many desire only to be served and thus forfeit God's exaltation. God is pleased when we serve! Give, and it shall be given unto you; - Luke 6:38

It has been a gratifying month for the church. Dr. Starr and his dear wife Ms. Shirley have been with us. They are home for a few short weeks and then will be back on the road again. What a blessing it was to hear of what God has done and how over and over again God has provided for their needs. They are seeing Pastors encouraged, souls saved, and church members make decisions for Christ.

Karen Nolen is a single missionary to Mexico that reported of what God is doing through her ministry. God has blessed her faithfulness to Him.

Gary and Kirsten Taughinbaugh were married at our church this month. Gary received Christ at his home with Pastor many years ago and Kirsten attended church in Hanover. We are looking forward to seeing what God will do with this young couple.

H.E.A.R.T., a home school co-operation of our church members began this month. Classes vary from puppet ministry to choral conducting. It is an opportunity to give courses usually not provided at home.

Master's Club began this month. Our children follow a curriculum developed by MC that thoroughly teaches and applies Christian living.

MZBC celebrated its anniversary. Dr. Starr preached all day and Pastor Chris Starr commenced one year as pastor.

A highlight of our month was the Shepherd's Retreat. We hosted a venue at Shady Maple in Lancaster and invited many pastors to come with their wives for a day away. Around 20 pastors came and enjoyed great food, fellowship, and most importantly spiritual challenges on a variety of topics geared for pastors. The people of MZBC took the bill for the day and many of our people sponsored a pastor and agreed to pray for them prior to the SR.

Pastor continues to preach through Judges on Wednesday nights. He has progressed on Sunday mornings with a series, "Right and Wrong Fears." Sunday School has been a series entitled, "God the Rewarder," that deals with the crowns a Christian can receive in Heaven. Sunday evenings will continue into October on the topic of "God's Mind on Music." We stand opposed to Contemporary Christian Music in any form. We believe music should be acceptable to God and that His tastes are not our taste. God wants holy music!

If you are looking for a church that you can trust, come and visit MZBC. We are committed to integrity. We are committed to not only holding to the "Old Paths" but ensuring that our church family is doctrinally and spiritually prepared to "Rise up and Build" in these last days. May God grant us that request?
