It's not Thanksgiving yet, but I have been struck with how much we have to be thankful for. I have posted three new albums of pictures of our Spring and Summer. Just going through these pictures reminds me of the wonderful times we have had with dear friends and family. We went various places, like Great America for their Courageous Kids event to honor our friend, Jacob, who is in remission, the State fair, many trips to the Sacramento zoo and a special trip to the Oakland Zoo to let Katherine see elephants for the first time. During this time, my sister-in-law, Sunny, got engaged to a wonderful man, Tony, who we are excited to welcome into the family. Katherine will need to practice walking down the aisle with a smile for the wedding in October. Our dear Katherine turned 2 at the end of July. We had a wild and wet party for a few of her friends. My attempt to make it a simple and small event went by the wayside once Gene got involved. He did a wonderful job. He thinks of everything. Katherine started school soon after turning two. It was a rough transition, and it still not a smooth drop off, but she has blossomed in the month that she has been going there. Her vocabulary has exploded. She is able to express the things she has learned (she knows all of her shapes, colors, numbers, and recognizing some letters). She has added interest in learning about more animals and bugs. Her diet has broadened as well. I would still classify her as a finicky eater, though. She is developing that toddler look. Where did my little baby go? She is still cautious, but less fearful of new things. She is excited about learning new things, and we get excited about how well she is doing. She went from being completely unsocial at school to occassionally chatting with friends and getting involved in circle time. It's just amazing how much kids absorb at this age. We are so honored to be a part of it. We have much to look forward to in the near future. There is, of course, Tony and Sunny's wedding, a trip to the beach, a trip to our timeshare in Tahoe, and in the Spring, a trip to South Carolina for my cousin Sam's wedding and a family reunion trip with the cousins. Please enjoy our pictures. Our church has joined the Sermon Audio family, so take a listen by following the link to Northside Church. |
