37 weeks. At Charleston now. Fluid levels are back up!
MUSC is in downtown Charleston -- there's a lot of history here.
The house we are staying at is on James Island on an inlet. This is the view from the backyard.
We arrived in Charleston and got settled in last night. We had a doctor's appointment this morning to get another ultrasound done and we are relieved that Jamie's fluid levels are back up! She is actually at "12" which is amazing considering she...

On our way to Charleston...
For the past week or so, the doctor had been concerned that Jamie's fluid levels were too low. She was at a level "8". This was very strange because she is a very big water-drinker. She is constantly drinking bottled water all throughout the day...

Two Weeks to Charleston
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2012
Posted by: The Lee Family Homepage | more..

35 weeks 4 days. It's been hard to get good 3D pictures because he's getting squished in there. :)
At CPR class.
Two weeks from now we will be in Charleston. Time is going by far too quickly, and we are very busy preparing to be away from home for 6 weeks. We've had many doctor appointments and ultrasounds, and Martin seems to be growing well. Looks like he...

Martin at 26 weeks
From Jamie: As we are going through this difficult time of preparing for the arrival of a baby with a serious medical problem, it has made us more aware of people around us who are also struggling. The Lord has given me a great burden to pray for...

Letter from Dr. del Nido, Boston Children's Hospital
From Jamie: Last week, we were able to talk on the phone with Dr. Del Nido from Boston Children's Hospital. We sent him Martin's echocardiogram and written report to get his opinion on it. After an agonizing few days of waiting, we finally heard...

Our first visit to MUSC, Charleston SC
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2011

Martin's definitely got a head full of hair!
The fistula problem.
A blessing as we thought of Martin. We don't presume the Lord's will but was a blessing nevertheless.
This past Thursday we made our first trip to MUSC (Medical University of SC) in Charleston, SC. It was an up and down experience. I'll try to keep it brief and relay all of the pertinent information. We met with a lady from the CrossBridge...

Martin's latest ultrasound in 4D -- he's growing!
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 03, 2011
Posted by: The Lee Family Homepage | more..

From Jamie: Today we got to see Martin again in 4D! Everything is still the same with his heart, but it was encouraging to see how much he has grown! Dr. Malpass mentioned that babies with heart defects tend to be on the small side, but right now...

Visit with the cardiologist -- it's official.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2011
Posted by: The Lee Family Homepage | more..

Ultrasound visit with the cardiologist on October 13, 2011. He confirmed that Martin definitely has HLHS and will be needing to undergo the surgeries. Sorry for the bad photo.
Martin at 21 weeks.
We had our visit with the cardiologist this morning. And it's official. Baby Martin's heart is definitely half-functional and the doctor confirmed that he has HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome). A bit discouraging to say the least. Something...

Next ultrasound appointment for Baby Martin
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 05, 2011
Posted by: The Lee Family Homepage | more..

Martin at 21 weeks.
A verse that was precious to our family regarding Martin. Out of context, but precious nevertheless. We tell our children that Martin has a broken heart, and the Lord is near.
First of all, I think it is necessary to express deepfelt gratitude for all who have called, written, and prayed for us. We are thankful for our family and friends -- both near and afar. I know it always sounds so cliche, even as I write this. But...

Sucking his thumb (18 weeks)
Martin at 21 weeks.
It is 4:30am Friday morning and before I head to bed I will do my best to chronicle any news related to our 4th child while it's still fresh in my mind. I think it will be helpful to just write it all down for family and friends who are interested...
