CALL TO WORSHIP (Tune: “This is My Father’s World” – p. 39) (Words by Pastor Jim Byrd)
Our God will build His church, The work He has begun; He will complete and she shall sing, The praises of the Son. This is our confidence, The Lord His house shall raise; None shall resist His will or work, Or rob Him of the praise.
God chose us by His grace, Ordained our souls to save; To satisfy His holy law, His own dear Son He gave. Christ Jesus came and died, To put away our sin; He paid our ransom price in full, And righteousness brought in.
The Builder of the church, Now reigns upon His throne; He sends His Spirit to the lost, To make salvation known. Yes, Christ His church will build, Mount Zion is secure; Though all the gates of hell oppose, She shall always endure.

We will serve THE LORD’S SUPPER today following the messages. All who believe and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ for all salvation, righteousness, forgiveness, eternal life, and glory are welcome to participate in this blessed memorial ordinance. We urge you to do what God’s Word says to do in deciding whether or not to partake of the unleavened bread (which represents our Savior’s body given as the sacrifice for our sins imputed to Him) and the wine (which represents His precious blood showing His death under the wrath of God as our Surety and Substitute) – “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body” (1 Cor. 11:28-29). Many believe that eating and drinking “unworthily” means to participate while not having measured up in themselves to be worthy to do so. But this is far from the Lord’s meaning and the meaning of the Lord’s Supper itself. First of all, in ourselves we are all unworthy, even we who are sinner’s saved by grace. Secondly, no amount or degree of obedience can make us worthy – “If Thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?” (Psalm 130:3). Thirdly, our only worthiness before God is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb slain – “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing” (Rev. 5:12). The whole point of the Lord’s Supper is to express our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ because we are unworthy sinners who need God’s grace which reigns through the righteousness of HIM who is worthy on our behalf. We are never to partake of this ordinance apart from the conviction of the knowledge of our own sinfulness and Christ’s worthiness. We are never to partake insincerely, but we are never to partake thinking we have made ourselves worthy by our sincerity and obedience. This ordinance symbolizes a believer’s assurance and confidence in Christ and what He accomplished in His death on the cross to save us from our sins. – Pastor Bill Parker
THE NECESSARY REVELATION
In spite of what false religion says in our day, Christ and His word says, “All things are delivered unto Me of My Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and He to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him” (Matthew 11:27). No man can by searching find out God; God must reveal Himself to us and in us. This He does to His people through the word of the truth of the Gospel and by His Holy Spirit. He does this, as Paul says, when it pleases Him to do so. He cannot be hurried and His hand cannot be stayed. Paul’s description of his own experience is the same with all that God saves: “But when it pleased God, Who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood” (Galatians 1:15-16). Not even the clearest preaching of the Gospel alone will avail for sinners who are dead spiritually and blind to all that is of God. But God will bring this work to pass in all those He loved, chose and redeemed in Christ. His sheep will hear His voice. They will be all taught of God and when they learn of Him they will come to Christ. Christ promises that the Holy Spirit whom He would send would do this: “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you” (John 16:13-15). It is the command of God to His servants to “preach the Word” and it is His command to all to “seek the LORD.” As this is done, He graciously reveals Himself to the objects of His saving mercy. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9-12). But there is another “but” also: “But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit...”What does He reveal to us? “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
