Very clear and sound teaching on Israel's Unbelief and that of the present day evangelical church.

" It may be that in days ahead we will not see an alternative between Warren and Piper but a walking hand in hand of the Warren/Piper approach. What will we call such a thing? Purpose Driven Hedonism or Desiring 40 Days of Purpose?"

Have they not been walking hand in hand for a long time?

Very well stated! I suspect it also has to do with the sin of ingenuity of which you wrote about two weeks ago. This is sad news in particular because of the influence Dr. Piper has had upon Fundamentalists beginning to come to the Reformed faith. Also the Reformed community which was just beginning to warm up to Piper, will likely shut down. But as God has said, He will not share His glory with another, and perhaps people have been attributing too much glory to a man for that which the Holy Spirit alone deserves credit.

Sermon:
Drink For Free
Theodore Zachariades

comment
“ It makes more sense... ”
For my whole life I have just accepted the "drink" as always being like the woman at the well and just think about it being everlasting "water" life. In this passage, when you explained how water was not free, at this time for many people, and how large of a gesture it would be to give away water... it makes that verse mean a whole lot more!

“ Thanks! ”
I don't think I have ever heard a sermon that described the trinity quite like this. Thank you so very much for continuing to fight to spread the gospel!

Hey bro,

There's always Amazon. Let me know if you want it - I get supersaver free shipping!

Yeah, Lifeway...Right. I've never been favorably impressed by any of the SBC rebranding sales and growth strategies. I reckon they work, but in the same way weeds easily thrive in soil intended for other growth.

I am not a preacher, but I have the heart of preacher. I guess I would say, I am a Truth Proclaimer - speaking God's Word as I have been taught of the Holy Spirit by His Grace.

When I read this link, I was so moved by the statement, "Now I speak, so that they will not convert me."

I've been doing that most of my life - speaking to religious people who are interested in speaking "smooth things" - instead of the hard "Truths" of the Scripture.

It is particularly hard being a woman who not only speaks to whomever, regardless of gender, but also, of position, and/or credentials.

Men in leadership (and, I fully believe in the positional authority God has given a man over his wife, and of a pastor (male) over his flock, in particular, do not want a woman speaking Truth to an issue that he is on the other side of.

It is not lack of respect on my part, nor positional rebellion, but I speak because I "have" to speak. As Jeremiah said, (and I might add, my Grandfather being an itinerant preacher, doing street preaching in his day, born early 1900's, said the same), "fire in my bones."

So, thank you for posting this link to this story told by Elie Wiesel. It is a comfort and encouragement.

I'm saddened to hear of Robbins' passing. Although I criticized him a recent blog post of my own, he was on-the-money right about clericalism in the PCA, as well as the other fads and foibles that afflict what has become more a Laodicean affinity group than a church.

And although I criticized what he failed to say, I am still thinking about what he did say.
