Dr. Jim, We just wanted to thank you for all the help you have provided us, without that help we would not have been able nor encouraged to start our church here in AL. Human nature is such a slothful thing, our tendency is toward comfort, and because of that we would have simply stayed at our mother-church in the same way the apostles stayed in Jerusalem. Your teaching and motivation have been instrumental in our progress and growth. Since the Great Commission is still addressed to the churches today, I suppose so also is the necessity for God to act in "kicking us out" into the world as He seems to have done since the beginning of any type covenant relationship has existed. Without His use of you as a tool, we would not exist as a church today. Thank you Troy Clemens Landmark Baptist Church
Dr Phillips, Pornography is one of the plagues of our time. Our inability to appropriately monitor the internet has allowed our youngest children to be impacted by this leaven. It is so amazing how the times have changed and how the entire world is moving in an ever-developing, interdependent and global economic system. Being a person who has spent two very different times traveling the world with the military my observation of the global synchronization of the cultures is very acute. As a young man I spent several years in the Army stationed in Germany (1976-1985) as an enlisted man. Back in those days there was a very obvious presence of old-world customs and cultures all across Europe. Today I would say that many of those standards have been abandoned, and everyone looks and acts like Americans. As a Chaplain I have spent 12 years with the Navy traveling Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East and have seen that the Western influence of our American lifestyle has effectively been a leaven that has changed everything. Once upon a time Christianity was a respected faith but today, especially in our country, it is increasingly becoming a byword. The age of tattoos and body piercing is subltly bringing us to that place where if we are called to receive a mark to participate in the public marketplace most will do it without any thought of holy and biblical prophecy. When we hold these days over and against the 50s or 60s and 70s(days of Hal Lindsey's LATE, GREAT PLANET EARTH) the metamorphosis of our culture and the presence and influence of the emergent church and its deliberate attempt at illegitimately marrying the gospel to the flesh/world today is, I believe for those with discernment, grievous. My point in saying all of this is that we have got to keep on breaking the ground, planting the seed, and preaching/teaching the Word. The internet is the fountain of good and bitter waters - but as you see there is an absolute hunger for hope, the blessed hope, across the world. The LORD is coming. I retire next year after 22 yrs of active duty and I am planning on going back home and initiating a free bible institute in El Paso. Till the LORD comes let's keep on fighting the good fight and doing things eternal! Blessings, Bro. Mike
Dear Dr. Phillips Thank you for your dedicated teaching and inspiration to remain in the Word of God. You have been a blessing and your teaching is like none other, so clear and understanding. Once again Thank You and may God bless you and your family. God bless, Marc (Adirondacks,NY)
Dr. Jim, I just wanted to leave a comment and let you know how much I am enjoying your teaching. This is the most sound doctrine I have ever heard being taught. I learned the foundation of a lot of these things you teach from my pastor, he also studied theology through the line of J.L. Guthrie, and directly from Ben Bogard, Fred Stevenson, and L.D. Foreman. I think his comment probably sums it up best, "This guy has taken the knowledge of the original languages far beyond what I learned, even beyond those who taught me. If you really want to learn proper theology, the Hebrew and Greek languages are the key." Thank you for all you study and effort. Our entire church body is profiting from your labor.
I have had the pleasure and priviledge of being a student of Dr. Phllips for the last 7 yrs. There have been times when I was afraid to blink for fear that I might miss something he said. The things that we study are beyond imagination to most people. To tell you what I have learned and how I have grown in the Lord would take me a yr. Jim has inspired me to study and read more than I ever have. I would like to thank him for that and to say I will always be in his debt for my growing in the Lord. Thanks Jim for my knowledge. Bill
"Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God,smitten by him and afflicted."SO much sorry and pain for Jesus for us and our salvation and forgiven our sin, he must be praised and we must be thanksful and honor him with all love and worship and steadfast follow him, winning the world to him, pray and watch, thanks and bless and hope, keijo sweden
Dear Dr. Phillips Thank You for your Audio Study MP3’s Posted on Sermonaudio.com They are very informative and helpful in understanding just what the Scriptures are really saying to us. Our journey over the past 40 years has been interesting to say the least… My wife was raised a Catholic and I was a Lutheran we both quit church at a very young age (teens). When we met a friend I worked with (at the Post Office) came to our house & studied the Bible with us (He was a Baptist) we finished our studies and made our commitment to Christ and were Baptised in the "Bible Baptist Church" in West Seattle (Wash.) During the Charismatic Movement of the 1960's we got involved with the Pentacostal Movement & later the "Assemblies of God Church” not feeling spiritual enough we then went to "Community Chapel Bible Church", Which got into some really weird stuff like Tongues & interpretation (Nearly always conducted by the Pastor & his wife), Dancing in the spirit (in which people would pare off with people other than their spouses and eventually it became very erotic the things they would do. We became very discouraged and dropped out of everything for a while.... Then we were "visited" by the Jehovah Witnesses and attended their meetings for over 13 years doing the door to door work etc. (there’s a whole separate story there) after breaking that Bondage we knocked around a few apostolic type Churches until my wife said "IM NOT GOING TO ANY CHURCH ANYMORE." After a few years we moved to Minnesota to be near our son who was "on fire for Jesus" (His Words) We attended the "Spirit Filled" church he went to for a while but saw the "Fake Healings", (known members would show up at the “advertised healing Meetings” in wheel chairs & back braces and fake healing…. One lady (we had seen in church a couple of times perfectly normal, came with a back brace & Crutches which after she was “TOUCHED” by the Evangelist she was miracously healed and chased the Evangelist all over the stage to the gleeful cheers of the audience and the "Prophetic" utterances that were achieved by the Pastors Elders by “cruising the room”“and listening to the conversations of congregants. They would then tell the Pastor and during service she would have these “special revelations” concerning the needs of her congregation. We quickly realized that there was nothing there for us. We went back to staying home and just reading the Bible on our own. One day I found a book in the recycle bin on Revelation by Ellen G. White and was very impressed with the scriptural content and began attending the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a little later on my wife started going too! She didn't like the "rules" such “No cosmetics” “No Jewelary” “Modest dress” No meat Eating”, etc. We went there for about 7 years and one day I read in the Scriptures John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and we realized that it was the thoughts and advice of men that we were following. We stopped going to church and got free from the Bondage of Men's Rules and Just read the scriptures then I found out about Sermonaudio.com and began listening to different messages according to Title. We really appreciate your "Class Style" Teachings based on the books & history of the Bible and have been truly blessed! It seems we’ve been on a long journey and have come back home where we wandered from. Like the prodigal son? (Luke 15:11-32 God Bless Ron Johnson
