ABOUT Sovereign Grace Baptist Church

After very fruitful pastoral missions to the Aleut people of the remote Alaskan village of King Cove and to the Yup'ik Eskimos of the remote Alaskan village of Scammon Bay, Jon and family left Alaska on January 23, 2008 when symptoms of Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (aka ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease) began to manifest in 2006. After extensive testing at Loma Linda University Medical Center and continued testing and observation at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center, Jon has a rare, slow degenerating case of ALS. Because Jon continues to have a God-given heart for the local church, he desires to teach and preach Christ, and Him crucified. By God's grace, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church has called Jon on December 21, 2008 to be the congregation's next pastor; and to this honor, Jon has humbly and joyfully accepted.
