 | Our journey began in April of 1995 when a small group of believers sought to rediscover what it means to be a church. After calling a pastor, we began meeting in a conference room at the Wilson Inn in Orange Park. Since then our path has included many twists and turns but we have continued undeterred on our journey.
We desire to worship God and it is this above all that drives us. Even though "... we see through a glass, darkly..." we still believe that we see a God who is worthy to be praised.
Through this journey we have learned that our greatest joy is found in the glory of God. We believe that God is most glorified when we are most satisfied in Him. This is a joy that comes only after seeking for it. Seeking for it like the merchant looking for the pearl of great price.
We have also learned that we often rob ourselves of this joy. C.S. Lewis once wrote that we all are like children playing with mud pies in the slum who turn down the opportunity to make sand castles at the beach. Because we do not believe such a place exists for we have never seen it. So we have realized that this journey requires faith. The faith to believe that our greatest joy is in the glory of God.
We have learned something else about God's glory on this journey. That is that at times journeys come to an end. Such is that case for Christ Fellowship, which ceased to be a particular congregation on April 29, 2007.
Though our journey as a particular congregation has come to an end, we pray that the fruit of our labor together will continue on through sermonaudio for as long as our Lord sees fit. |
