Great Sermon! Jessica,
I just downloaded this message and haven't yet listened to it so forgive me if I'm out of line here but the Supreme Creator of the Universe, speaking through Paul, told your HUSBAND to love YOU as Christ loved the church (unconditionally) and gave (all of) Himself up for it, not YOU to love your HUSBAND unconditionally. He tells men to love their wives 4x in the Ephesians passage and wives to respect their husbands as an afterthought. Earlier in the passage (Eph 5) HE calls husband to mutual submission. God does NOT expect you to respect your husband without his "earning" it by loving you FIRST. Read Ken Nair or Joel/Kathy Davisson for more, Fireproof/Love Dare, too.
Blessings...in Christ alone
Great Sermon! Great message brother...one of my favorites of yours. It is good to come back to these texts to remind ourselves what we are doing.
May the Lord continue to bless your ministry.
Great Sermon! Thank you for going beyond the surface problem and defining/exposing the true root of problems. We have listened to many of your sermons since first reading your book, The Everloving Truth. We have been inspired by them all and use these truths as our family endeavors to keep "the faith" alive and well in our children and grands.
God bless you and yours.
Great Sermon! Sodom and Gomorrah were indeed burned with fire and brimstone for failure to repent of their sins. They are buried in the bottom of the Dead Sea where there is no life. That says a lot. "And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew and repented not:..."
Interesting, people are trying to get the president of the United States to go along with same sex marriages when, in fact, he is married to a wife. His parents were married. His grandparents were married. All were married to members of the opposite sex. Yet many are pushing the president toward same sex agenda. Weird!
Great Sermon! This is an excellent sermon on why marriages are broken-- one word: selfishness and idolatry. I am a military spouse who constantly sees marriages break apart...
Thank you, I enjoyed hearing your sermon and it's a great reminder to love my husband as Jesus Christ loves the church.
Great Sermon! This is another great sermon by Mr. Baucham. The doctrine is very solid and practical. How can one deny the validity of the Bible with the truths and explanations given in this sermon?
Praise the Lord, Above! Somehow, I have got to get my husband, who has told me "I am DONE!" to listen to this! Pray that the Lord will provide a way. Thank you for your head on approach. You are doing a great work for the Lord!
You are right on! I only wish my adulterous husband would listen to this sermon! We have been Christians all of our lives, but somewhere along the way he has allowed the adversary to take the front seat. I pray continually for him, that he might find Christ, once again, and ask for His forgiveness. I need your prayers that he might repent and seek His Face. Thank you so much for your strong Godly and family beliefs, in a world full of despair!
Great Sermon! Satan is crafty and most people who are interested in the Bible won't be deceived by "fables and stories" like "The Three Little Pigs". However it is possible to tell the story of the flood over and over again without teaching its theology. Ear ticklers want to buy the Noah's Ark Lamp and Wallpaper but they don't want to face the "water of the wrath of God". People turning to fables is simply people telling the Biblical stories over and over never talking about the theology within the story. You can be as lost listening to the "Three Little Pigs" as you can be listening to the story of Noah's Ark. We have to graduate from Vacation Bible School or Children's Church and move up to theology.
Eye opening! Wow. . . I have never heard the flood explained this way. I've always heard more of the kid's version. All preachers should be required to teach the meat and meaning of the Word in such a way. I'm soooo sick of feel good church! A must listen for everyone!
Soli Deo Gloria! Brother Baucham, as a rural SBC pastor, let me say that God has used this message to bless and encourage me. I resonated with the whole thing, and near jumped outta my seat a-shoutin' a couple of times. :)
Especially, I wanted you to know that we are out here: the brothers who feel the same way you do, as you expressed in the last several minutes of this message. We want to fight the good fight. We need our brothers. We will struggle and sacrifice because we are thankful for where God has placed us in this (imperfect/flawed/deeply troubled) non-demonination.
So clearly spoken. As always, Voddie says it so simply that no one can argue the Truth found in scripture, and the many ways we excuse ourselves from being responsible to that Truth by complicating something that's not complicated: Jesus' love for us and the church to which we belong.
Praise be to Him for giving me my wife!
Ouch While I don't necessarily agree with Dr. Baucham's interpretation of Revelation 3 (Sardis is the works-righteous church...aka Rome, Salt Lake; the SBC is Pergamos), he makes many excellent points towards the health of the SBC and necessity for reform within our liturgy.
Great Sermon! delighted that you have dealt so well with this needy subject. We could do with support from your church on the first Saturday in August when we have a Pride parade in Belfast. Pray for our witness just prior to this event. I shall keep in touch. Every Blessing to you all. Romans 1 v 16
much needed sermon Thank GOD for Men like you that will preach Thus Saith The LORD,without compromise, you have blessed my soul for you are about the only one left that will preach the truth, and America needs to hear sermons like this one ,We are in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the LORD told us that as these days were so shall the coming of the SON OF MAN be,if GOD does not return very soon i am afraid things will get worse and worse,KEEP PREACHING THE WORD, I will Pray for You.
