THIS is the ONE SERMON you NEED. I am a nurse and a recovering addict. As both, I can tell you that this sermon should be THE seminal work for ALL ministers, pastors, et. al to follow. Stay with the medical terminology as long as you can; Dr. Crabb does explain things in layman's terms as well. Biblical references come fast and furious at the end, and his "5 S's" are spot on (I'm going to adapt them and post them in my non-demoninational support group with a link to this sermon). There is NO hesitiation here; Dr. Crabb KNOWS his material, is confident and passionate and, as a result has no missteps. If you have an addiciton (of ANY kind, not just porn) or if you are the loved one of an addict, you need to listen to this. If you are the spouse (or S.O.) of an addict, his or her addiciton is NOT your fault and is NO reflection of you!! Listen to this sermon, pray, and begin the healing steps to recovery. Brilliant work, Dr. Crabb. |

Recommended, but with reservations. This is a very basic sermon, offering a plain overview of pornography in the secular community, with some commentary about use by Christians. However,Dr. Crabb does misspeak at times (the release of neurotransmitters during porn usage does not cause a "tremendous high" per se, it is a gradual increase that does create a positive feeling, but not as the "rush" that (as in his example) a crack user would feel). Other times, he makes tenuous comparisons (he states that ebay purchases of personal adult toys by females prove that they use pornography. Huh?). Other times he is flat out wrong (progressive use of pornography does NOT make the user watch younger and younger people in said porn; rather it makes them seek out different acts in order to provide new stimulation (look up the "Coolidge Effect"); that *may* mean some people turn to pedophilia; in most cases it does not).
The problem, of course, is that most ministers, pastors, et al who preach on this subkect just can't know about it personally unless they have been addicted, which means many, many of them get it wrong. That said, this is as fine a sermon on the subject as I have heard, and Dr. Crabb does get more of it right than most. His heart is in the right place, & this is most definitely worth a listen; just be alert. |

Hope! I saw a Christian doc a few times, she couldn't help me in the way that I needed it. Christian counselors r not always trained in the specific area that u need. If 1 dosn't work keep searching. Don't give up! |
