Chompff 1 comment “ Many Wonderful Truths ” The term 'carnal christians' sounds oxymoronic.This is clearly evidenced by the verses in Romans 8:6-8. And we are not co-workers with God in God's husbandry. The false understanding that we work with God comes from the wrong translations of the kjv translators. Chompff 1 comment “ The Shepherd, The Door, The Porter ” When Jesus spoke of the Shepherd and the Door, he clearly spoke of himself with "I am the door" verses 7 and 9. But "to him the porter openeth"---definite article for "the porter" as for "the shepherd, and for "the door." But who is the Porter who openeth for the prophesied Shepherd and was not the Porter also prophesied in the OT? And although not clearly mentioned by Pastor Chompff, I cannot but believe the porter/forerunner none other than the same person who proclaimed in John 1, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." Singular, definite articles---no need for mistaken identity! For me, all of the above is needed for the work God has me doing in His vineyard. God's past tenses swallow all "contingencies" giving no allowance for future changes. Appreciated Mr. Sjoerdsma bringing sweet contemplation which I coupled with Paul's commentary: NOT imputing their trespasses unto them. Here is real sin with a real possessive pronoun, "their", yet NOT imputed unto "them"! How can this be? Chompff 2 comments “ A WORKS GOSPEL IS HERESY !! ” In this sermon and all his sermons, Pastor Chompff is faithful to point out that salvation is GOD’S WORK ALONE and not by good works. It is the unequivocal teaching of scriptures like Ephesians 2:8,9 (KJV) and Romans 6:23 (KJV) that salvation is A GIFT which is not contingent on human effort. There are those who love to teach a “works gospelâ€� based on the teachings found in James. But, they and their followers are standing on shaky ground. When James speaks of works, he speaks of good works resulting FROM salvation and not the other way around. God, through James, declares that those who have received the “giftâ€� of salvation have good works that follow (Abraham and Rahab are mentioned as examples of people who demonstrated their faith GIVEN TO THEM BY GOD by their righteous deeds.) The plain teaching of the inspired Word of God is that salvation is “NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghostâ€� Titus 3:5(KJV). Over and over, the Bible proclaims that good deeds CANNOT merit us salvation. Reject not this truth and chase after the lie that is put forth in the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi and the teachings of other heretics. Chompff 1 comment “ Great Sermon! ” Eureka, after hearing Pastor Chompff for 7 sermons, I do believe here a man who upholds God's Word above his own words. Did the helpless paralytic believe in order to be forgiven, or was he freely forgiven antecedently and graced to consequently believe (Phil. 1:29)? Does not I John 5:1 give the answer in Greek and English? "Ye must be born again" is NOT an imperative, but rather an absolute INDICATIVE. What a clear sound mind of God given to His children regardless of age or any theological qualification. This wisdom from above is purely a gift from God which has not any part in human endeavors. This He gives to whomsoever He pleases to give. Praise the Lord for His riches are so great that no eyes have seen nor no ears have heard unless this privilege is given of God. Chompff 2 comments “ Great Clarification ” The COVENANT given to Israelites was not DO IT YOURSELF as they understood it to be. We cannot circumcise our heart, cannot repent on our own, cannot obey the commandments perfectly. This is the work of God alone. The then leaders taught the people only about keeping the law including the ceremonial laws. That is why Jesus asked the Pharisees to learn about Himself in Hosea 6:6(Matthew 9:13). They lacked in the knowledge of God because they were not known of Him. And He didn't regard them as His children. God made a new covenant with a new group of people. Thank you Pastor for explaining to us, those difficult verses in Hebrews 8:9,10. Chompff 2 comments “ PURE WATER ” THIS SERIES OF SERMONS ON COVENANT MUST BE FOLLOWED BY BELIEVERS TO GET THE KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE. The first one of this series of sermons talks about The Covenant of Grace and The Covenant of Law in GALATIANS 4. The second in the series is about the only one covenant of Grace in GALATIANS 3. The third in the series is about the Covenant of Grace in old Testament period with ceremonial laws (called the first covenant) and the Covenant of Grace in the New Testament period without the ceremonial laws (called the New covenant) HEBREWS 8. This parable by our Lord Jesus Christ, straining out a gnat, and swallowing a camel is beautifully explained by Pastor. Thank you Lord for revealing to us the glorious Gospel of judgement,mercy and faith in the Atoning work of Christ. Lord bless your word.
