Sermon:
Entire Sanctification (Debunking the myths)

“ Misunderstanding ”
Sorry for misunderstanding your use of the term when you said, "My Saviour experienced entire sanctification." 22:17. It is my understanding that sanctification is the work that God does in us, through the Holy Spirit, to make us more Christ-like. Entire sanctification is the work that God does in us to cleanse our self-centred nature, in order to fill us completely, through and through, and entirely with Himself. Your text verse 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says. "and the very God of peace sanctify you ..." Consecration is our responsibility and as Romans 12:1 suggests, is the only proper response to make to a God who has demonstrated extreme mercy towards us Sanctification in all stages whether initial, on-going or complete is God's part. He chooses to set apart, i.e. make His people holy.

“ correction ”
Apologies for the massive syntax errors of the last post. I'm blaming the computer and internet connection! My observations should have read something to the sound of, In John 17, Jesus sanctified (separated, surrendered, consecrated His self rights) so that His followers might experience a) sanctification and b) entire sanctification. There was no need for Jesus to be entirely sanctified as He did not have a sin nature that needed to be cleansed. Appreciate the efforts involved in recording and posting your sermons.

“ Answer ”
I think you misunderstand the word sanctification. It simply means consecration. Of course Jesus was free from inherited depravity. My point was that He displayed total commitment and we must do likewise.

“ Question ”
In this message there was a comment suggesting people should follow the example of Jesus and be entirely sanctified. It was mentioned that He sanctified Himself - John 17? My question is, why would Jesus need to be entirely sanctified if he was free inherited depravity? Surely, the sanctification mentioned in John 17:19 has different application to the on going sanctification of believers as well as the definitive and establishing work of entire sanctification. Christ devotes/consecrates His life for the sanctification i.e. the process of making His followers more like Him.

so many churches in northern ireland. So few preaching the unadulterated Word of GOD. Oh for more men washed in the blood of Jesus and filled with his Spirit. Even one man with those things mentioned can destroy the works of the devil in our wee land. Is it not time GOd that the heavens be rent. Did your son die for nothing. bring sinners to him in full repentance. Let there be rejoicing in heaven and in earth. Will thou not revive us again. You oh God Are able. Are you willing.?
