Great Sermon! Thank you for this! My parents were divorced and so many families struggle with this issue which truly is an attitude and a heart issue. We find it difficult to make the right decisions and do what's right so why is it surprising families disintegrate? Thank you for not quoting what a rabbi had said --does it matter? What is important is people need to grow up and take their life and its consequence seriously, divorce is painful, and relationships are painful when the people involved do not rely on God's promises, and love and believe his holy word.
Excellent message I understand that this is not an easy passage to address, but Pastor Schortmann does an excellent job of emphasizing that God uses broken, undeserving people for his redemptive purposes. Why such a dark event was allowed to unfold in a situation like this is not easy to understand, but I believe that, as the sermon addresses, the horror of rape, the failure of Jacob as a father, the faults of Jacob's sons in seeking a vicious revenge, and ultimately in light of such a bleak situation how there is still grace and redemption. This is a hard passage of Scripture, but this sermon helps with some illumination.
A very edifying Preacher, be suprised! John immediately disarms the listener from his/her predjudices about SermonAudio 'top sermons'.
John quietly and calmly fleshes out the word of God making it real to all who would sit quietly with him.
John is both scholarly, wise, discerning and counselling...a rare gift.
Entirely relevant and a natural storey teller, John gives great insight into life and death and all the 'stuff' in-between we get so messed up about....quite relevant to remember that whilst I worry; someone is being persecuted , perhaps tortured, for believing in Christ.
Eternity, understanding the end is the beginning...is entirely relevant if you want peace in your heart and to be a peacemaker.
A great sermon. I am amazed John is not continually in the Top Sermons list???
