Great Sermon! "There are many ways of abetting; urge and help on, or taking part in the sins of others; by commendation, counsel, consent, or concealment [silence]. And if we share with others in their sins, we must expect to share in their plagues. If we do not reprove the sins of others, we have fellowship with them. A good man will be ashamed to speak of what many wicked men are not ashamed to do. We must have not only a sight and a knowledge that sin is sin, and in some measure shameful, but see it as a breach of God's holy law. After the example of prophets and apostles, we should call on those asleep and dead in sin, to awake and arise, that Christ may give them light."
in a word..thunderstruck! I've heard this sermon several times and each time I find it more impactful. Pastor Matt lays bare the depravity of abortion, the abetting of the church in the matter, and the just wrath it invites from God. ALL CITIZENS should hear this message in order to better associate their societal role to the proliferation of good or evil. And as for the literal act of hearing, as I've referenced to others, feel free to turn on the recording and then proceed to move to the other end of a busy factory floor or airplane hangar, etc--you'll still be able to hear Matt through it all. But then, it's a good thing to finally hear and understand the truth of abortion and our complicity in its practice.
THANK YOU Pastor Matt for your untempered conviction and leadership among the throngs of mental toddlers of our age!
Great Sermon! Brother Jason brings out great points that challenges all Christians to be more than readers only of the Scriptures, but to be ones who study the Scriptures to get the deeper meaning that God wants us to know. Once you begin to actually study the Holy Bible, you begin to get more satisfaction of knowing what the deeper levels are telling us. There are so many great teachers on SermonAudio that we should have enough choices to keep us busy 3-4 hours daily. I thank God that He has given me a mind that wants to know God more intimately every day.
Strong Sermon! Brother Jason does an excellent job giving us an overview of Dawkins' views and counterarguments that show Dawkins'
flaws. It's an excellent sermon to give us a basic foundation to see the weak
Powerful Sermon! Brother Jason does an excellent job presenting the challenge of holding on our Christian Worldview as it's trying to be destroyed by the homosexual activists who have a long-term agenda against any form of Christian ethics. He gives many examples of why the homosexual movement has progressed so fast and so far in our nation. This is a good basic approach to understand why we must be strong in our Christian belief and be able to defend our position.
Great Sermon! Judy, After trying the belittling approach by making condescending comments on my sermon titled A Refutation of the Debased Theology of a Monstrous Regiment of Christian Feminists, I see here that you try the "let's act like a theologian" approach. You mistakenly assert that gender-nuetral bibles are needed because of the English language (which is not true in and of itself) and then you proceed to cite I Tim. 3:1 as an example of men imposing the male gender upon the text. The truth is that the context makes clear that men are intended by virtue of the very next verse which states that the overseer must be "the husband of one wife." Secondly, yes, I have read many egalitarians who support homosexuality and use the same novel hermeneutic to come to their egalitarian conclusions as they do their pro-homosexual conclusions. In conclusion, the only ones causing divisions are those of you in the egalitarian camp who are hell-bent on distorting Scripture. -Pastor Matt Trewhella
Interesting perspective! Rev. Trewhella makes some strong points. There is no Bible translation anywhere that says God is our mother or even female...There is no real inclusive Bible...the real term is Gender 'accurate' Bible and the only reason one exists is because of the English language. Our language translates general terms like "anyone" as "a man". Because of our generic "he or him" many people misunderstand the meaning of the Greek original so translators decided to be more accurate and the result was hysteria from N.A. pulpits. i.e. 1Tim. 3:1 Greek says "if anyone desire to be an overseer", while the KJV says "If any man desire the office of a bishop". This has led to confusion (the work of Satan) that there is to be an 'office' of overseer and that it is only for 'males'. Secondly, no Egalitarians support the practice of homosexuality at all. It is forbidden in scripture across the board. We have here too many 'straw dog' arguments designed to inculcate fear and hostility. Shame on those who 'reinforce our differences rather than our shared humanity' and engender divisions among the faithful. "Mark them which cause divisions contrary to the doctrine that ye have received and avoid them." "Love one another".
Great Sermon! Trewhella says "The woman is created second so she is only a secondary derivation of the image of God." Talk about 'novel' theology! "Mattie", better untie that "1/2 brain" of yours you say you "tied behind your back", for the sake of women. First of all, birth order is rarely conclusive in the Bible(i.e.Esau/Isaac, Cain/Seth etc.) Second, when something is derived from something else we call it refining or 'distillation' that produces a more pure derivation of the original...as gold is refined, so God refined the man. Only then was He able to say the human creation 'was good'… If the second derivation was inferior, as you imply, then God could not have said it was ‘good’.
Swallow the juvenile misogyny here if you can. This childishness, indicative of a great fear of women and aggression towards women is a bit frightening. Methinks Matt doth protest too much. Women, unless you believe God made you an inferior vessel, better run!
Great Sermon! Would be able to agree with this ( well set out) preterist eschatology but for one thing- mark 13 vs 26 and 27. It simply cannot be explained away and I think we must challenge at that point. The rapture will be over before anyone knows it ( in a twinkling of an eye). Resurrected and raised from the dead to meet Jesus in the sky, with no signs to look for - the event thats only sign is no
Sign ( lots of biblical prophecy to describe this) and then a second coming which is proceeded by signs and of which will occur at the end of the tribulation and of which a knowledgable bible scholar will be able to warn of). Good try tho !!!!
Great Sermon! Hi Jeremy. Saw your comment on this sermon- I haven't listened to it- Im somewhere else in scripture ( studying the jewish feasts). Wanted you to know that I appreciate your comments-I am a Christian counsellor ( of sorts) and I often work alongside gay youth who are being victimised. You are right- we must not label anyone. Don't give up on god though. I would say that just like there is no concrete proof of god, there is no concrete proof of no god- at the end of the day both ideas are based on faith. I actually got to god by studying science. Email me if you want to chat...peregrio@ aol.com
Great Sermon! As a gay man, I have a few things to say. (1)Just like Christians don't like to be painted with a broad brush, neither do gay people. There are outlandish and outrageous people in all walks of life. I myself do not care for most gay pride events because I also find it inappropriate for these events to be sponsored by bathhouse's and porn companies, for people to be nude in public, and so do my friends. These events WERE ORIGIONALLY set up to show that we are just as normal as everyone else, but they have become drunkin, pornographic, public displays of debauchery. (2)The pack mentality demonstrated against the street preachers in Seattle was also demonstrated by the "Christian" men attacking gay people in Russia, Georgia, and Serbia. (3)Most gay people DO NOT want to destroy marriage, the family, or a rational standard of morality. I myself do not agree with no-fault divorce. It weakens ALL marriages, and if repealed would give pause to ALL PEOPLE before making their vows. Also the government SHOULD be doing more to promote having children, and stable families. (4)In a free society, the government must remain secular. I myself, an atheist, would find it abhorrent if we made laws based on ANY religion; and those remaining need to be repealed. There is no concrete proof of god.
Sure this is America that is being outlined? What is here said you may confidently change the title to read England, where the base is promoted by law and by funding those involved in it. The all out war against God, godly morals and ethics, recently saw Sodomites joined together in so called marriage, our political parties, though hating one another, joining together to attack the sacredness of marriage. Evil sits upon the heart of our political system, and Christendom just passes by on the other side. Few who profess Christ have any godly morals and ethics, those truly born again being attacked by many that just have a name to live by but are dead, so that those who stand for truth and righteousness are not only attacked by an evil government but by many pretending to be Christians. We now have police continualy seeking to move Christians on, even arresting them, for giving out tracts, though Islam is has no problems in preaching hatred upon our streets. Christendom has abandoned the law of God, and so abandoned the first part of the Gospel (Rev.14.7), preaching a lawless gospel of decissions and indifference toward holiness, righteousness, and truth.
