Great Sermon! Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Great Sermon! This is a great message, but I think he is misinformed re Dr. Laura. she is for homosexual relationships according to her own blog.
Great Sermon! "There are many ways of abetting; urge and help on, or taking part in the sins of others; by commendation, counsel, consent, or concealment [silence]. And if we share with others in their sins, we must expect to share in their plagues. If we do not reprove the sins of others, we have fellowship with them. A good man will be ashamed to speak of what many wicked men are not ashamed to do. We must have not only a sight and a knowledge that sin is sin, and in some measure shameful, but see it as a breach of God's holy law. After the example of prophets and apostles, we should call on those asleep and dead in sin, to awake and arise, that Christ may give them light."
in a word..thunderstruck! I've heard this sermon several times and each time I find it more impactful. Pastor Matt lays bare the depravity of abortion, the abetting of the church in the matter, and the just wrath it invites from God. ALL CITIZENS should hear this message in order to better associate their societal role to the proliferation of good or evil. And as for the literal act of hearing, as I've referenced to others, feel free to turn on the recording and then proceed to move to the other end of a busy factory floor or airplane hangar, etc--you'll still be able to hear Matt through it all. But then, it's a good thing to finally hear and understand the truth of abortion and our complicity in its practice.
THANK YOU Pastor Matt for your untempered conviction and leadership among the throngs of mental toddlers of our age!
Great Sermon! Brother Jason brings out great points that challenges all Christians to be more than readers only of the Scriptures, but to be ones who study the Scriptures to get the deeper meaning that God wants us to know. Once you begin to actually study the Holy Bible, you begin to get more satisfaction of knowing what the deeper levels are telling us. There are so many great teachers on SermonAudio that we should have enough choices to keep us busy 3-4 hours daily. I thank God that He has given me a mind that wants to know God more intimately every day.
Strong Sermon! Brother Jason does an excellent job giving us an overview of Dawkins' views and counterarguments that show Dawkins'
flaws. It's an excellent sermon to give us a basic foundation to see the weak
Powerful Sermon! Brother Jason does an excellent job presenting the challenge of holding on our Christian Worldview as it's trying to be destroyed by the homosexual activists who have a long-term agenda against any form of Christian ethics. He gives many examples of why the homosexual movement has progressed so fast and so far in our nation. This is a good basic approach to understand why we must be strong in our Christian belief and be able to defend our position.
Great Sermon! Judy, After trying the belittling approach by making condescending comments on my sermon titled A Refutation of the Debased Theology of a Monstrous Regiment of Christian Feminists, I see here that you try the "let's act like a theologian" approach. You mistakenly assert that gender-nuetral bibles are needed because of the English language (which is not true in and of itself) and then you proceed to cite I Tim. 3:1 as an example of men imposing the male gender upon the text. The truth is that the context makes clear that men are intended by virtue of the very next verse which states that the overseer must be "the husband of one wife." Secondly, yes, I have read many egalitarians who support homosexuality and use the same novel hermeneutic to come to their egalitarian conclusions as they do their pro-homosexual conclusions. In conclusion, the only ones causing divisions are those of you in the egalitarian camp who are hell-bent on distorting Scripture. -Pastor Matt Trewhella
Interesting perspective! Rev. Trewhella makes some strong points. There is no Bible translation anywhere that says God is our mother or even female...There is no real inclusive Bible...the real term is Gender 'accurate' Bible and the only reason one exists is because of the English language. Our language translates general terms like "anyone" as "a man". Because of our generic "he or him" many people misunderstand the meaning of the Greek original so translators decided to be more accurate and the result was hysteria from N.A. pulpits. i.e. 1Tim. 3:1 Greek says "if anyone desire to be an overseer", while the KJV says "If any man desire the office of a bishop". This has led to confusion (the work of Satan) that there is to be an 'office' of overseer and that it is only for 'males'. Secondly, no Egalitarians support the practice of homosexuality at all. It is forbidden in scripture across the board. We have here too many 'straw dog' arguments designed to inculcate fear and hostility. Shame on those who 'reinforce our differences rather than our shared humanity' and engender divisions among the faithful. "Mark them which cause divisions contrary to the doctrine that ye have received and avoid them." "Love one another".
Great Sermon! Trewhella says "The woman is created second so she is only a secondary derivation of the image of God." Talk about 'novel' theology! "Mattie", better untie that "1/2 brain" of yours you say you "tied behind your back", for the sake of women. First of all, birth order is rarely conclusive in the Bible(i.e.Esau/Isaac, Cain/Seth etc.) Second, when something is derived from something else we call it refining or 'distillation' that produces a more pure derivation of the original...as gold is refined, so God refined the man. Only then was He able to say the human creation 'was good'… If the second derivation was inferior, as you imply, then God could not have said it was ‘good’.
Swallow the juvenile misogyny here if you can. This childishness, indicative of a great fear of women and aggression towards women is a bit frightening. Methinks Matt doth protest too much. Women, unless you believe God made you an inferior vessel, better run!
