Right ON! Thanks for adding the comment about changing the color of the carpet or the times of the services. These trivial changes can really upset people who have been coming to a church for so long that many view them as "pillars of the church" when in reality, all they have been doing is taking up a seat, without making any financial contribution to even pay for the lights and heating and air conditioning. The church deacons should calculate these costs and post it in the bulletin or at the entrance to the building!
I've heard one pastor say that, if everyone was 'on social security' and gave ten percent of that, he would have a larger budget than what he had at that time.
Interesting topic It is interesting what you report. General authorities are the ones you have to pay attention to and not what they say at BYU. Over the last 30 years, there has been a move to use more Christian words, but they all have dramatically different definitions. If you follow what they say on FAIR or FARMS (LDS) apologetic sites, there is no change in what they teach. There is recently a BIG push to support the Book of Mormon as inspired and proving that Joseph Smith is indeed a prophet of God. People who don't ask for the definition of the Mormon terminology think they are talking about the same thimgs!
Great Sermon! You will be in my prayers, and Eph.6 as Paul being led by the Holy Spirit says, to Put The Whole Armour of God.......Just from verses 10-20 are extremely important, notice how Paul starts off......
Finally, and with each piece of the Armour, there's emphasis on The Shield of Faith, he says, Above all.....The Shield of Faith, because, from the beginning, The Devil uses doubt, and What he
does with Christians is tries to get us to doubt our Faith ......We all have to put it on and keep it on. We either have all of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, or none of Him. I believe this is the Mystery of the Gospel, though not a mystery to the saints.
Great Sermon! Thank you Mohan for sharing this very important message to all who may listen.... We are instructed to " have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them" (Eph.5:11). Our duty of separation is plain. Our fellowship with Christ demands our separation from apostasy and fundamental error.
Great Sermon! I have to say that I have been told that some churches or should I say the Pastors baptize some people who don't even understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ..... If they want baptism, they get on a list and they get baptised when next in line.no
Great Sermon! I haven't listened to this sermon yet, though I intend to, but as for Driscoll, he is clearly a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you have ever read any of the crude, vulgar, blasphemous stuff that comes out of the deranged mind of Driscoll, you would see he clearly has no fear of God. There is a great sermon by Laurence Justice on Driscoll the potty-mouth preacher which I highly recommend. There is also the article by Cathy Mickels in which she furnishes various quotes from Driscoll's books which show him to be the godless charlatan that he is.
need clarification I havnt heard any of the music played at Mark Driscoll's church but I have listened to several sermons online and they all seem to line up with the Word. So I am curious as to how he is apart of the cause of the dying church? He is pretty straight forward and to the point in His preaching. I havnt heard anything that contradicts whats in the bible nor have I heard him add anything false. what am i missing?
Good Topic! I agree that we should not offend others, but on the same note if we are trying to witness to people who practice Islam we need to know what they believe. If you tell them to believe in Jesus they can easily say they do believe in Jesus. The difference is in the Qur'an in Sura 4. I learned about it while doing a study of the doctrine of the Trinity.
Great Sermon! The welfare program Aid for Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) is anti-marriage because the recipient risks losing benefits if she gets married. The term "baby's mama" or "baby's daddy" can be traced to the eligibility requirement that recipients stay unmarried. If it is discovered that an able-bodied man is staying in the same house, she will lose her benefits.
