It is useful if one wants to know why gambling is incompatible with Christianity. However, the speaker does not consider stock market trading as being gambling. Anyone with an elementary understanding of how the market operates would have to concede that it is a form of gambling, eventhough it is technically described as being "investing." Faggart tells the stories of early great American Baptist preachers such as John Clarke, Obadiah Holmes, John Leland, John Ireland, Shubal Stearns, Valentine Wightman and others. He also tells of the influence George Whitfield had on the Baptists. The faithfulness of these men is inspiring. Brown 1 comment “ Thought provoking sermon. ” It was biblically sound sermon and I really liked it. Pastor Brown urges us to make moral judgements boldly. I do agree. But he mentions that he would also not trust NIV Bible because it had two people of homosexual orientations in its editorial team. ' Ask them if they have a canary, because lining for bird cages is about the only good use for this foolish fable. Great summary of the errors & blasphemous lies: clear outline of how to reply to people who have read the book, and who will soon be watching this rotten fable when Ron Howard's movie based on the book is released May 9th. The church needs to have this kind of clear overview of all the corruptions of history, art, and the Bible that are woven into a plausible sounding lie. 1 Pet. 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.." 1/25/06 6:46 PM Anthony  from So. Brown 2 comments “ Great Sermon! ” WOW! I listened to this sermon about two months ago and have listened to it several times since. It is so simple and yet so directly on target. There is a spirtual battle going on. Dr. Brown does an excellent job communicating how to fight it. We must first define what our distinct positions are in the eyes of Christ, then we can understand what our distinct positions are in the marriage. A man out of position in a marriage, is not a huband, according to scripture. A wife in control, is a wife out of position, and the marriage is not according to God's written covenant for marriage. Thank you Dr. Brown for this series.
