Sobering one! This was usefull to hear. We far to seldom hear that we should not only consider laying of the things of the world, but really do it.
I'm in a process of getting more and more found of money and things, and have come to notice this lately(thanks God for revealing it!), and it is good to hear someone not blessing and excusing this, but anouncing what the bible tells us about wanting these empty things.
Very helpful sermon Rev De Jong has expounded this passage, with insight and helpful application. I was greatly helped in understanding this passage for what it means for now - today! Well worth listening to...
Great Sermon! I am preparing for Weds. night Bible Study using this same passage and thank you for some excellent points. A new point I had not considered was the substitution of Christ for the leper. Excellent insight. Also, the irony pointed out was helpful as well.
A worthy exposition of the passage, blessings to you, Rev. DeJong.
The Answer I'm struggling with big questions lately about vocation, feeling dissatisfied and useless in my sinful and weak attempts. I think I've just found my answer--staring at me in what I could almost call my "life verse" ;). Our ambitions, like Paul's, when sanctified, all become simplified: subsumed under our single ambition to know Christ. Thank you, Dr. Ferguson, what a timely message for me!
Nice Sermon This message deals directly with the scripture passage and does so in a very personal way, so as to build up the listener. I'd like to thank Pastor DeJong for his careful exposition and his pastoral handling of the text.
