I get so weary of listening to a-millenist theology which seems to go to such convoluted lengths to avoid the simple meaning of the text. When I query things I seem to be regarded as a simpleton. Unfortunately I live in an area where this teaching prevails. We are also fairly isolated and my husband is disabled so we can't travel big distances. I'm struggling with this issue in my church since I'm looked at as throwing fire and brimstone every time I encourage anyone to steer clear of Halloween activities. Even my pastor doesn't want me to speak to others about the true meaning of Halloween. He's chosen to ignore the topic all together and wants us to do the same. When so many participate in it, they don't want to feel judged in any way for it. It was so refreshing to hear that I'm not alone with this issue in churches. The Holy Spirit has called me to speak out and His judgement is the one I'm worried about. It's sad to me that so many participate in such a dark event and think nothing of it. Steve Hereford manages to exalt God by acknowledging His masterful plan of the ages in the lives of individual believers and in the grand scope of human history. This sermon gives even the novice listener the perspective that a long-time student of God’s word would have in bringing to mind the interrelations between several important passages of scripture as it explores God’s purpose through election, adoption and the culmination of history through Jesus Christ. I found his understanding of Eschatology to be not only well presented but correct; a rarity. He presents a very scholarly position as to why tithing as we know it to day is not biblical. Refreshing for someone to let scriptures state what they really mean in regards to the New Testament Believer and the Tithe.
