Edifying! As a fairly new pastor, I find Pastor Sprouse's teachings to be very helpful. Many helpful points were made in this message. If God's truth is desired, this is one pastor who delivers! Praise God! |

Great Sermon! Anytime an articulate and learned man speaks from the pulpit, it can be interpreted as, "great."
Here's the real problem with charasmatics: they don't really believe what Paul said in chapter twelve. (That's First Corinthians Twelve, the controversial Spiritual Gifts chapter; the dividing line for the denominations.) If that were so, we wouldn't have to deal with guys with doves on their jackets, or people rolling on the floor laughing like big Brown dogs.
I am a pentecostal. I believe every word in the Bible. I do not listen to other men and base my feelings of safety in Christianity on what they say. FYI the best preachers have already died. Tozer, Reidhead, Chambers, Wesley. Chambers, BTW was a Baptist who couldn't get ordained until he joined the Pentecostal Prayer League. Mr. Sprouse IS a wonderful speaker. So is Casey Treat in Washington State. My point exactly. BTW the Methodist Church is Wesley's legacy. Too bad they don't follow his teaching any longer.... |

Needs to be said more often.. Having once been involved with a dynamic Pentecostal Church I can only agree wholeheartedly with this message. I discovered firsthand the dangers of their heavy promotion of practices such as "slain in the spirit", deliverance, discipleship, shepherding, etc, and eventually accepted these as being okay, until one notable episode, where they performed a 'proxy' deliverance on me, because they felt I wasn't strong enough to cope with an 'ordinary' one. What they ultimately did through that session was to destroy my faith in one short few minutes, and leave me reeling, with neither support nor discussion. I ultimately left the church shortly afterwards, and returned to my Methodist roots to try and rebuild my faith. Thankfully now, 20 years later, I'm in a rock solid church, and have healed from those experiences, but the "slain in the spirit" phenomenon is nothing more than Satan's counterfeit practice, whether they desire to accept it or not - nowhere in scripture do people EVER fall backwards in meeting with the Lord for Him to talk to them - nor do they lie for hours doing nothing or making a fool of themselves. Trust many in such churches will pay heed to this msg carefully. |

Wise counsel A gentle message, with good insights into the word of God-I have felt a little wobbly and insecure in walking in the spirit-your message brings me reassurance as to how to walk in the Spirit. I don't always sense that from other Christians-backing the walk in the Spirit with knowing the word is a great reminder. Thankyou for helping me build that relationship with God-through His Son Jesus. |
