Great care of God. Genesis 50. Faith in God shown in Jacob's and Joseph's wish to be buried in Canaan. And a lesson in God's providence: He work all things for the good of His people.
Great test. Genesis 44:1-17. Joseph's test began to bring results: his brothers acknowledge their sin and they are not ready to abandon Benjamin as they did with Joseph many years ago.
Trusting in God. Genesis 43:3-34. Jacob submits himself lastly to the providence of God and prays to the Lord Almighty. A lesson about trusting in God.
Great guilt. Joseph continues to test his brothers. They see all these as God's chasing after their sin. Man can live with the guilt of sin years and years.
Wisdom of God. Great wonders and ironies of God's Providence. We must understand that our lives are part of God's plan of redemption, so His timing takes in view this plan.
From God. Genesis 40:1-15. The biblical teaching on dreams. Dreams given by God (and the interpretation given by Him) and dreams explained psychologically.
Great mercy of God. Genesis 39:13-23. God is with Joseph and make him faithful. This happens when God's goodness and mercy are pursuing us wherever we are.
Fear of the Lord. Judah sinned in Canaan, where were parents and brother, Joseph, alone in Egypt, retains his integrity. Walking with God gives power over sin.
Useful. The Reformation rediscovered the teaching about God calling men to a vocation in life. We impart them in secular and spiritual, but God gives gifts to use both to establish His kingdom.
Darkness. The brothers of Joseph have murdering thoughts, hardened hearts, and are hypocrites. But most important, Jacob is without hope, even if God revealed him that Joseph will be a great man one day, so he couldn't die. But he believed not.
Favoritism. Danger of favoritism. God showed Joseph's family the importance He has in plan in the future for Joseph, but his brothers has no spiritual discernment.
